hey peoples

just wondering a few questions about a honda prelude i am thinking of buying, im not exactly sure on all the specs of it but i am pretty sure its roughly a 94 or so but thats only at a guess, hopefully by the time i finish this post i will have a pic for you to look at so you can try and see what car i am talking about

basically i am an apprentice and love my VR commodore, standard apart from a few things like stereo, exhaust, neons, illumination etc but unfortunately it is expensive to run with the cost of petrol now and i really want to get rid of my car loan and cant do it with this car so i will be selling it for this cheaper to run 4 cy prelude

i want a car thats cheaper to run but dont want a really slow car, basically i want to know what sort of upgrades i can do that are going to give me significant power increases, anything from better spark plug leads to turbo's, intercoolers and the whole business..... dont really know much about engines and the sort so i want to know roughly what sort of things i should be doing to it and roughly how much its going to cost to do the mods

any info would absolutely awesome thanks alot

P.S will try and get photo

ozhonda has most info you need

If you're after a 94 lude, get a VTi-R. 142kw vtec motor = lots of fun.

whats your budget? for car + mods..

the picture you posted is a 5th gen prelude 1997-2001 model, which come si or vtir..

for performance your probably better off looking for a manual vtir model.. if you find a jdm prelude with h22a that would be even better..

4th gen's are 1991-1996 (with a rounder body shape) with the 4th gen preludes there are 3 types:

S model with f22b sohc engine, which would be the slowest in the group.. ive read the f22b is good for turbo charging and is lighter without the extras like 4ws... good for h22a transplant aswell..

then comes the 'si' model which has the h23a dohc (non vtec) engine.. which usually comes with the extras like 4ws, sunroof all power options etc.. runs quicker than the "S" model but missing vtec...

then finally the h22a dohc vtec which is probly the quickest in standard form..

i havent done any serious mods in teh past with the preludes so your better off asking the guys on prelude australia..

hey there

just went and had a bit of a look and a drive tonight, cars sticks like crape to a blanket, the cornering on this compared to my VR is absolutely amazing (before you all say "derrrr") i knew it would be better but my god

car seems reasonable alright power wise, bottom end is pretty shocking but for a 4cyl im reasonably happy..... doesnt compare to the power of the VR in any way but will cost alot less in fuel which is what im after and i wont complain to much having to drive it

now im not sure on exact specs whether its the vtir model or what but i do know its actually a 89 model so its alot older than once thought, its done 250,000k's which is a fair bit but has all service logs and receipts and seems all legit (good friends with the seller) so everything seems cool, wants $3,800 for it, is that a good deal or not so much??

any feed back would be great fella's

P.S the engine bay looks to have NO room at all so putting a turbo in i think is going to have to be a fair effort

P.P.S the boot is soooooo small, how am i ever going to fit my sub box in there sad.gif
