Hey a cop pulled me over the othernight on the parade in norwood. I broke a road rule and took a right turn in a no right turn. The cop chik said i would have my fine sent out to me in 2weeks or so. Can anyone tell me how much this fine is likely to be and how many demerit points im likely to loose and if i will have an extended liscene. I am a P plater btw and this is my first offence. Thanks.

A friend pulled EXACTLY the same stunt down in victor over schoolies and had his p-plates extended by 12 months.

As for the fine I guess would be around $100

or maybe even $50 like a parking ticket

Most of the time when they say "You'll receive the fine in the mail", you get away with it. Otherwise, they would have written out your fine then and there.
That's in MOST cases, so don't get your hopes up just because of my post.

I had the same thing happen to me...
last year, i was on my Red P's and they had just changed the times on a no right turn sign, and i didnt notice....
I got a $175 fine posted to me, and the cop said that it was 2 demerit points, but the points never got taken off my license..
But that's NSW.......

according to the handy red piece of paper I have here....
Turning imporoperly (NAT 17) - 2 points
Disobeying traffic signal (NAT3) - 3 points
one of those two I'd guess...

as already said, when the officer pulls you over they will write you a ticket on the spot. unless they took all of your details etc down, time of infringment, place, what you did, cars details, your license details, ran a check on the car at the time etc and 'then' planned to do it back at the station its highly unlikely...afterall, its not a speed camera

plus a warning is a better alternative most of the time anyway imo, and if it wasn't anything serious (which as you say, it wasn't) and you weren't driving unroadworthy vehicle, license suspended etc etc and the officer hadn't been put into a bad mood prior to meeting you then i think you're pretty safe

varies state to state i believe
in NSW i think you get 4 points on your first set of P's, and 7 on your second set?

on reds, you are alowed 3....if you get 4 then you are screwed...on greens you are allowed 6, if you get 7, you are scerwed...i thought it was like you said stogge, but i had 7, and i thought i was in the clear, but no, im not..

In Qld you get 4 points as soon as you get your L's, them 4 points get carried over to your P's. When you get your opens you have 12 points (which is only 9 weeks away for me

)

no you dont have points on your L's....as you are not "in control" of the car the person fully licenced is. but depending what you do ect. they will cancel your licence and u have to re-do the test again, or they delay the time till you can get your P's

ok i got my the expiation notice back and it says DISOBEY LEFT TURN ONLY SIGNAL. $224 fine. It says nothing about demerit points however i gave trans SA a call and they said i have lost 2 demerit points and no extended licence. If i were to breach one of the 5 conditions P platers must follow i would need to have my licence extended..

in WA a p-plater like myself gets 12 points, 2 years on P's and no extension for losing demerits, unless you lose your licence then it's another 2 years from what i've been told.
