Marc
To the members and supporters of Car Audio Australia.

After many long years, countless hours of pouring code into this website and building up what has become undoubtedly the largest resource for car audio in Australia it's come time for me stand aside.

With other commitments in my life now, a growing business, purchase of our first home and an organisation that robs me of more time than it provides justification for I have realised that my skills can be put to use in other areas.

I am very proud of what I have achieved with Car Audio Australia to date, and the opportunities it has provided both personally and professionally and to some degree it is CAA itself that has opened the opportunity for me now to explore other ventures.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind the Car Audio Australia community (including those from around the Australian industry that just read on a daily basis), that true to my word CAA has always remained a FREE resource for all to use. It is quite often taken for granted by many, and dealing with those is exceptionally time consuming and non-rewarding (usually resulting in personal abuse). Remember, CAA is FREE and run by predominantly volunteers. To those industry members that don't support CAA - what will you be whinging about once CAA is gone? Fortunately, thanks to Dan CAA has a lease of life now, but if I had closed it down you would have whinged about it being gone. Perhaps now is the time to show your support, appreciation and step up and support the site. It's not only about advertising, sponsor some competition giveaways, run a promotion exclusive to CAA, organise an event for CAA and so on.

Throughout the last couple of years one particular person has played a vital role within the background of Car Audio Australia is our QLD Representative Dan Lucas. I am very pleased to say that Dan (Cruiser) is stepping up to take on the reigns of Car Audio Australia as the Manager. I also extremely confident that CAA is in good hands and his input will see CAA into the future.

I would also like to publicly thank Ainslee (MRS.TEK) my partner, who has been 100% devoted and supportive in getting to where we have now with this site and organisation. Ainslee took on a lot of responsibilities and allowed herself to be put under a lot of pressure at times all in a bid to take some of the load off me. Thank you so much for your support, and guidance in the last couple of years.

As Manager, Dan Lucas will handle the main tasks involved with running Car Audio Australia, as well as take over in the role of National Advertising Manager - handling all existing clients and new ones into the future. Emediate Technologies will still be responsible for the billing for advertising and associated services within Car Audio Australia.

I will still be involved to a degree with the mobile electronics industry but in a smaller capacity in the areas of consulting and marketing. My role within Car Audio Australia will be as an Assistant Manager for the time being supporting Dan, especially in the transition to his role of Manager.

Rest assured, all aspects of Car Audio Australia, CAASQ, the Approved Dealer Network (ADN) etc will continue to develop, expand and operate as they currently do with very little, if any changes.

I look forward to becoming more of an enthusiast once more rather than looking at car audio as a 'job'. I must thank all of the moderators for supporting me and contributing to Car Audio Australia. The time you volunteer often goes without thanks but please know you are doing something worthwhile and there are many of us who appreciate that. To those industry members who have supported me personally and Car Audio Australia thanks to you also, you have played a more important part of CAA's growth than you will ever know. I have developed many great business relationships and personal friendships with some of these people and I look forward to the years to come.

Please support Dan in his new role and a new lease of life for Car Audio Australia.

Thanks all, sincerely,

Marc Rushton

It's a really good move Marc, seriously.
I handed over the reigns of a site I managed to a mate of mine last year, and although it had NOTHING on this one, it made me realise how much time I was putting in to it.

I've said it before, i'll say it again, hit me up (Cruiser) if there's anything I can do to promote CAA in Tasmania.
I don't really have time to organise full blown events or anything, but i'm happy enough to help with advertising, and generally try to kickstart the scene over here because it's definitely an untapped goldmine.

Congratulations on the successful 7 years of Car Audio Australia. All the best to Cruiser in taking part of the reigns!

Have to say a HUGE thank you to Marc for establishing this site. introduced by a mate 2 years ago and started with buying Boss Audio from the local Strathfield, ive developed all of my audio knowledge since from what i have learnt on this site. it is the best internet resource i have ever come across!

from what ive learnt here, its also led me into my new career and completely changed the direction my life was going in, which in my opinion is just brilliant.

thanks marc, and welcome Dan, look forward to continuing with CAA under your operation.

Marc,
Happy and Sad say it but it doesn't say enough either.
I had been looking forward to working with you for years to come. While I am disappointed I know the frustration and stress associated with operating a web site especially one that is essentially free.
I wish you and Ainslee all the best with your new home and business ventures. If CAA is any example of what you can achieve I’m sure we will be hearing nothing but successes.
All the best.

Well Marc, its been a great last few years. All the very best with your future endeavours. May they include, fishing, beer, Ains, your dogs and a happy home.

Good luck and thanks for everything.

I don't know who Cruiser is, but I wish him the very best too for the on going success for CAA.

what an announcement.
all the best for your future endeavours marc (and ainslee). you both have done an exceptional job developing such a great resource, and community of like-minded enthusiasts.
congratulations to cruiser too.

Wow.

To me, when i first started here you *were* caa marc. A solid point of reference to "look to" in a very big, midly confusing site. A voice of reason and someone who kept this site running on the level. I listened to your criticism and warmly accepted your compliments.

Cruiser's got big shoe's to fill tongue.gif

Guess this explains why i havent been able to get a pm through to you . Your still going to hang around every so often right?
HooDs
There are soo many decisive factors into why this site is such a valuable resource in the car sound industry and I have no hesitation in saying that you Marc have been absolutely fantastic in everything you and those associated with this site (running, modding, everything!) have done.

For me personally this site has been more then just a 'forum'. And I know its the same with alot of people on here. Not only has the site given me the chance to open my mind and learn but also through those associated with this site I have had the opportunity to become significantly more involved with the scene. And I personally thankyou for that Marc because without you, all of this, all of the events, all of these people I have met, it may never had of happened without the ideals you brought to life through www.caraudioaustralia.com.

Dan is most definately someone who has my full backing for CAA, and he knows that any of the boys up here in CAASQ and Db Drags are more then willing to help out wherever we can. For those who don't know Dan, once you've met him and realized how pationate he is about CAA and the Car Audio scene in Australia - it's hard NOT to like him.

Once again Marc, thankyou for everything you've done - alot of people owe you alot more then a debt of graditute. I am one of many.

Thanks again. smile.gif

Any chance this can be made into an announcement? It's pretty big news and kind of tucked away a little.
I am sure everyone would want to know.

All the best for the future Marc and Ainslee!
This site is definitely an awesome accomplishment.

All the best in your other, future endeavours.

HooDs
YES!
DB JAY
well that was a bit of a shock.
Marc i know that you and Ainslee have put in everything in to CAA in the past years, and to what it is now you should be proud and can resign with your head held high. clapping.gif
So with all the time you will have up your sleve i gather we can see you with a rod in one hand and drink in the other? HAPPY FISHING tongue.gif

Dan congrats on the promotion i know that you will do an awesome job you may be nervous at start but you'll be right. good.gif

Thanks for all the time and effort Marc and Ainslee! - It's been fantastic, all that CAA is and will be can be attributed to the efforts of both of you, and the volunteers you have organised and coordinated.

good luck with your future plans, and I hope you settle into the new place (having a house warming?)

see you around the traps...
Ferry

Damo95
my goodness..

sure didnt expect this one to come around.. especially after all the times marc has thought about throwing the hat in.. and stuck with it..
but i guess it comes a time when things take up too much of your time and your interests are headed in another direction.. and your business prostects are growing..

marc.. i cant thank you enough for what you have done around here, and for me personally.. never before have i met such a determined person with a passion so great.. and one who is willing to go out of his way for his members and mates.. you have my utmost respect for what you have done around here, and where this very 'family' is headed..

good luck to both you and ainslee with your future ventures, and will personally wish you luck soon.. marc... happy fishing mate.. i might see you out on a quiet river one day.. wink.gif
MRS.TEK
Id like to say thanks also for the nice comments guys.
Id rather stay as i was with CAA, Marc needed to back off etc as he has other things on the go where as im quite happy to continue my role as i always have. This is a great site and i have also met a whole heap of great people and will continue to stick around as much as i do now to annoy you all. LOL
If thats ok??

Suits me!

For now tongue.gif

I've only just started getting involved here but I can only imagine the amount of work that went into this site. Marc's done a great job here. It's not easy pouring your heart and soul into something that I guess would be pretty thankless at times.
But, when it comes down to it, we can't rely on one person to keep CAA alive, and it's unfair to do so. CAA is all of us. The jokes, the advice, the 'which sub' threads tongue.gif All of us play a part in CAA, and Marc was kind enough to make it possible. Hats off to Marc. I'm sure he won't be far away smile.gif
Fudd
Who is this Marc guy??

i thought Dan had run it since the start?
~Sparkles~
He told me that too... I'm confused...

Marc,

Thanks for your efforts in getting CAA to where it is and setting up CAASQ and the trial at CAAdB. you've helped a small group of us with an interest in Hifi and Cars and carstereos etc grow into a massive organisation and helped bring together alot of very good freindships. You've copped more than your fair share of put downs and set backs by different sections of both the industry and the internet community in regards to CAA - more than most (if not all of us) would ever know. Big thanks for all the time youve put in.

All the best with future endevours and we'll see you around.

Wishing you all the best Marc

Havent had the chance to meet you in person yet, but I have nothing but respect for your talent, wealth of knowledge and professionalism running this community. It's been a pleasure being part of it since 2004 and I hope to be around for many more years to come.

Attack life smile.gif

Congrats Dan on your new role. Well deserved!!

Congrats marc on all you have acheived over the years. i'm very greatful for this site as it's taught me everything i now know about car audio. when i started i couldnt imagine that i wouldnt buy a single thing from my local autobarn hahaha.
good luck for the future.
and good luck dan on continuing the sucess of CAA!
Marc
All I can say at this point in time, is the small break I have already had has been very relaxing smile.gif

The well wishes and kind comments in this thread you guys have made are most appreciated, and offer a small reward in themselves for the work I've done to this point.

I'm extremely confident the site is in very good hands with Dan, and I have had very lengthy conversations with him on the phone with his thoughts on the future direction on the website, and organisation itself.

I will still be around as CAASQ Victorian Representative (can't give that up just yet!), and playing more of a behind the scenes role in the future.

Again, thanks everyone and already I feel a little refreshed and satisfied Car Audio Australia will continue on into the next chapter of "mobile electronics" as we know it.
niteflyer
You have done the Car Audio industry a great service for which everyone is grateful for good.gif
Pyroay
Well done Marc on all the work you have put into CAA.

The website, associated industry support, events and all the knowledge sharing has been invaluable in my development in Car Audio and is a credit to many, many hours of hard work.

I think you will really enjoy taking a backstep and once again enjoying car audio as an interest rather than a job. You shuold be able to relax more ad it is a well deserved rest.

good luck with your future endevours i will no doubt continue to see you at most future events.

Marc, thanks for all the years of hard work you have put into this place. I am sure i am one of the very few that have seen this place grow and expand since it was a Yahoo group. I don't think i can come up with the words to express my calibre of appreciation of the work you and other volunteers have put into this website and forums.

Dan, you have done very well in QLD, and i know you are going to put all your effort into the national scale. It shouldn't need to be said, but you have my support, if and when it is needed smile.gif

My thoughts exactly!

As my signature states: Inspired by you (CAA), created by me (DIY)" 1,000s of pages full of FREE advice helping all those curious about mobile audio; awesome!.

All the best Marc, you’ve helped build one sturdy foundation, CAA will never die! smile.gif
muzzy66
Another happy thanks to Marc for the time you have put in.

I don't know of another source in Australia where more audio enthusiasts are collaborated into a single massive community.

I've met a number of top people through this site, to whom I owe all of the knowledge I have right now.

Guys like Marty (FHRX), George (ICACHA - until his big mouth got him banned! laugh.gif ) and Shiny_Car all of whom have been excellent sources of knowledge and wisdom to those in need. Hell, even DD Phil - who probably holds the CAA record for most involved threads closed - but debates promote research and strengthen knowledge).

And naturally of course, a big credit out to Marc for making it all happen all this time - particularly for taking CAASQ under your wing and giving Australia a true national car audio competitiion.

I'm now trying to use some of the knowledge i've learned here to make a thread over at laserforums, to help protect beginners from being ripped off and misinformed by biased sales people - and to help them build themselves some nice audio systms.

I will specifically post a link to CAA in the thread, and will make a special recommendation for all users interested in audio to attend CAASQ events as the come up in support of the industry and to help give them the opportunity to hear how nice some nice, high quality systems can sound like.

It's not much, but it's my way of doing what I can to help support the industry smile.gif
