Gday,
I've just bought a few new pieces of gear - in this i got a Clarion PXW1252 4ohm 1000w dvc.
In the manual it outlines two types of sealed enclosures, Street and Soundquality, both with a frequency chart to show its performance. Whats the difference and how will it affect my sub box build.

PS, the Net Internal Air Volume for each is 0.8 cubic feet for street, and 1.5 cubic feet for soundquality. im leaning towards sound quality

im not sure on this, someone that knows what they are lookin at in terms of those charts could help, but at a guess, the street one might be to save room with the box, without going too small, kinda like a 'lower limit'

anychance you could link up some pics or scans or something of the charts??

Without looking at the response curves, Im guessing 'Street' is the peaky boombox given its a smaller size. Sounds $hite but gives that 'boom-boom'. And 'SQ' is the tendancy for a flat response.

Seeing as I dont fart one-note wonders (tongue.gif ) Id be leaning heavily towards SQ, and maybe slightly bigger.

Im unable to Scan them in, but from what has been said, i think i will go with the SQ volume...Cheers

Well it comes down to box design the the woofers character istics, for street you can get a higher spl but would be very boomy (as i know this from my subs in the street size box),

You will get a flatter frequency response from the SQ box, also the low down bass produced will be futher extended (produce lower notes more audibly) with the sq box,

I would only ever put a sub in the box the 'correct' size to create the flattest curve and extended bass response. Probably why i have a dual chamber 170lt box for my two 12" orions haha, ah well it sounds awesome wouldn't have it any other way.

For good bass extension and linearity go SQ sealed box,

For space concious applications only go the smaller box.

sorry if im hijacking. i have a situation related to yours.

good on ya for not needing your boot lol.

i got a type r. i understand they require about 1.5cubic feet for a correct box.
well mine is 2.5. anyone care to comment on a box that is too big?
anyone had good or bad experiences?
cheers

adding to that ^^^, i know when a box is too small, its 'boomy', what is the effect of a box thats too big?
