Ive read a tiny bit of information about them. Dont know how much is fact and how much is false.
Their products will replace the '0' at the end with a '2', so the MD100 will become the MD102, the 140/2 -> 142 the MW160 -> MW162 etc etc. I think the MD140/2 will be the only driver that will stay the same (but just with the name change). All the rest are getting an upgrade. Heard the Woofers should be able to reach slightly lower, but Im really interested in the Esotar. Will they make it smaller (like the piccolo version of the supremo?) because Id pay for that one!!

im very close to getting the esotars for the car....but if there is one with the EXACT same sound and its smaller it will sound a lot better in my install. NOw 5 1/4 worth of esotar is a install problem, but if they can squeeze it into 100mm diameter now that would be useful.
just need to know if the esotar will be a smaller version and when it will be released...hmmm esotar i miss that sound.

News regarding the Mobile range is just around the corner. Be patient. I can tell you the new range comes under the brand of 'Esotec'. More news soon.

Why a new brand name? will they be the same dyn quality?? please keep us posted
~thematt~
Aug 15 2006, 07:50 PM
Its not a new brand name as such, as they will still be called Dynaudio, but now the range will be called 'Esotec', to slot in with their Confidence, Evidence, Contour and Focus lines. At least thats what Im told. Could be wrong

well once hutch gets back to us...

i would be surprised if the esotar2 driver didn't appear in the car lineup in a form specifically built for automotive use. its the next logical step. i doubt they'd just re-release the esotar with a new shape and model# when they've had the esotar2 in their confidence/evidence/etc ranges for quite a while. ah man i love it when dyn comes out with new schtuff!
man that video makes me wet. how can one not drewl when they see the evidences!!??!!

A certain birdy has told me the Esotar V2 will be coming out in this line. But they will not be getting smaller. After all, they have a 3" VC!!

With the Focal Be out I guess that's finally motivated Dynaudio to step up to the plate with upgraded drivers.

i dont think they will have a 3inch voice coil, the diaphram of the tweeter is 1.1inch. From all reports the standard home speaker version of the esotar 2 has a neo magnet and it quite small. Just look how close the two tweeters are placed in the middle of the most expensive home speaker dyn makes. You would assume this "technology" would follow down to the car audio versions of the dyn drivers.

hmmm.... i don't really think dynaudio have ever really been in competition with focal

i reckon the danes would probably feel that their esotar is in a different league, just quietly... think evidence masters vs utopia be's. think confidence 4's vs b&w 801 diamonds.... but then again i'm prob. too opinionated

the md330d has a 28mm voice coil but a 70-something mm magnet from memory.

^^^ What he said. I got the VC and the magnet mixed up.

Plus, the Dyn range should be fully released in ~10 months. Im pretty sure they will be releasing unit by unit as opposed to the entire line at once.

Sep 26 2006, 07:46 PM
The new range consists of replacements for all of the current models with the exception of the Esotar, MD-130 and MW-190. New versions of these drivers will be released when Dynaudio completes their development from home drivers into mobile drivers. How long this will take is not known at this stage but knowing Dynaudio, I personally won't be holding my breath while I wait.
The new range is now in production and I am awaiting shipping.

Cost is going to be $100 extra per set. System 340 was $1399 so System 342 will be $1499.
Have read they will no longer be selling items individually. Would love to get a set of the 102 tweets and use the 100's passive, hopefully its going to be possible. The tweeters are apparently the biggest improvement and the Md142 is able to play a lot lower comfortably.

I thought the changes in MD142 are mainy cosmetic. The improvement is supposedly on enhancing the midrange of midbass drivers (MW162/MW172) and enhancing MD102 tweeter, not sure if there are any major improvement on MD132 though.

they reckon they put stonger magnets, and new spiders, same cil and cone setup, so i would say it would be much akin to the old sound, just more detailed...
which, IMO will make them the greatest speaker ever, cos the old dyns were a bit bright up top, and lacked some detail,
these ones will have the sound we all love, but be detailed... perfect...
~thematt~
Oct 17 2006, 07:25 PM
I havent heard the MD142 yet, but its specs are almost identical to the MD140. It cant play any lower. Fs is still 475Hz (MD140/2 was 480).
And there doesnt seem to be any Esotec or Esotar at all. Personally, I think thats a mistake, but we will wait and see what happens....

Fair statement, but I'd doubt it. I mean, price is irrelevant to the ultimate speakers for the ultimate audiophile. Focal Be Grande, Dynaudio Evidence, Tannoy, Waldorfs, B&W Nautilus. They all exist for a select market who can afford them (admittingly not a large group) but they still exist!! The Esotec was only $500, and worth every penny. The Esotar was a bit steeper at $1500 as pair, but again, worth every penny. IMO it was only the size of the Esotar that was my problem.
And Ill wait for my own opinions before jumping on some other guys. Personally, I like the Dyn mid (MD140/2). Only problem is the inability to remove the grill. Other then that, mine does the job.

or a "hi mate, the esotar is staying/going/being updated very soon"
is all i wanted, i dont see the need for tight lippedness, now im thinking stuff the esotar, ill look elsewhere,
not having a gripe, just wnated some feedback

i might get some polk sig ref instead...

Youre basing your decision on what you experience on the Internet?
Keep in mind that there is just one Dynaudio representative on these forums, and Im sure he would be a VERY busy person. Just because he doesnt get back to you in a week doesnt mean you should be offended. Ive found Hutch to be great to deal with.
And saying things like "stuff the Esotar" is not helping your cause.
http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/acad/inde...=155&page=0Postal and email address, phone and fax numbers...all available if you are serious about buying Dynaudio.
Im not picking on you. I just think that its a little daft.

I was just about to suggest calling Steve, but was beaten to the punch.... who would have thought that calling the distributor for the information would have actually gotten you the information?!
Its always the simple things in life....
And who would be crazy enough to commit to 1.5k tweeters without listening to them? If you WERE intending to listen to them, why would anyone's opinions on here matter?
Shreknos
Nov 1 2006, 03:15 PM
i would like to listen to them,
and frankly, opinions mean zero to me as they must be biased,
it was a simple aproach on the only plane i have to contact HUTCH, i asked for an email add, or something ages ago,
would it not have been easier for you to offer me this last week instead of pointing out my daftness???
i have rang a few stores, and all could say nothing, marty even siad, "the new ones come in each time the old ones get sold,"
meaning it could be forever,
it was stated that they were 3 weeks away, and i as interested in a product...
how foolish of me ay??
pantsonfire
Nov 1 2006, 05:07 PM
have heard there will be new esotars but not at the same time as the rest.
if marty and the other stores tell you the same thing what makes you think hutch or someone here will have anything different to say. i'm sure they're all more interested in info on the speakers than you.
go buy a set of the old ones or listen to them. have heard the esotar system and its amazing, i really cant see how they can improve it a great deal. just heard my system 340 that i got cheap because these are coming, and they're amazing, the old ones are still better than 99.5% of speakers out there
