Full Version: SQ setup for a VY Ute

Hi guys,

I've got a VY ute and i'm starting to get into the SQ side of things and i think my stezza is in need of a upgrade, well the subs and amp side of things.

Current Stezza:

Alpine CDA9855R (keeping)
1 set of Alpine SPX-177R (keeping)
2 10" clarion subs
1 4 channel amp (pretty gutless)

what I'm thinking of

2 Image Dynamics IDQ10's
2 Alpine PDX-11000 one for each sub (not to sure if that's over kill so please give me some advice on this)
1 Alpine PDX-4150 to run the type x's

The reason why i have chosen the PDX amps is because they are small and i've heard pretty good things about them, they will be mounted behind the seats on the back wall and if i get 3 one will be in the middle of the seats on the back wall (i'm going for a showy install so it'll look cool to).

the reason for the ID10's is because once again they aren't to big in the depth department which is a necessity in the VY utes, because they have bugger all space behind the seats. Once again, i've also heard good things about these 2.

please tell me what you think of what i'm thinking of, whether it be i should change the setup or maybe run different equipement, just keep in mind that the cabin space isn't huge...

oh and i don't want to put the subs in the part under the tray if anyone is going to suggest that.

Cheers,

The 2 ID's are a waste IMO, and off that power, you can easily run both of a single PDX. Using a single PDX1.1000, you have plenty of power to run an IDMAX if you want an ID sub at all. It sounds better, goes incredibly loud, and is worth every penny. Try to have a listen to one if you can.

I think he meant IDQ10's. While we would love to put IDMAX's in his car, they just won't fit properly.

yeah sorry i did mean the IDQ's...

I was going to mention that as well. I think you'll be more than happy with a single 10... or 12 if you can squeeze it in.

The rest of the list sounds good smile.gif

just use one sub, you running two subs can get messy for sq in utes,

ask JULS, he will explain in detail....

2 10's in a ute will be fine. Sounds like the making of a good all round system biggrin.gif

i recon 1 PDX for an IDMAx 12 inverter high up between seats, u can easily make a custom enclosure with correct air volume, and then the other PDX for the splits and mount each amp behind each seat, there identical right?

i recon itll look tops and sound awsome!
Shreknos
it was something about obviously hearing one sub before the other,

and about hearing the both subs bfore the midbass,

strictly for sq

i think....???

We did a AU falcon ute a couple of weeks back.

Dyn 240GT in the front doors and a custom board in the back to hold crossovers and 3 PDX amps, 2 x 1.1000 and 1 x 4.150. Next upgrage will be 2 10" Alpine Type X, one on either side in custom boxes, I think it was an extra cab ute though or whatever they call them.

Sounds amazing so far and he is only running average subs at present.

So keep something like that in mind.

daviboy - the subs need to be behind the seats down below because there is no space what so ever in the middle of the seats, but i can see where your coming from.

caydin - i don't think i've had that problem yet but if i do i could use the time allignment for the subs?

The ute we did must have had alot more room, it was one of those tradesman utes or whatever they are.

yeah that's what i'd like to do with the whole custom board behind the seats idea. have you done much work to VY's with there little spaces behind each seat?

AU's have a ton more space. After seeing nuts cabin at the last comp there isn't a lot to work with.

I think we did a Blue VY, well I think it was a VY. Had a single 12" and a four channel plus splits and a D310, can get exact info if needed.
