I just bought two 10" ALpine type-r subwoofers. I looked up the enclosure guide from Alpine and for a sealed enclosure it says the box should be 18L for each sub. Isn't that way too small?? It says the resonate frequency will be 49Hz. Does that man the lowest sound the sub will make is 49 Hz???

Any help will be appreciated.

Try downloading a programe called winISD. Type your sub specs into that and it whould help you make a nice box. Also the type r's go well in ported enclosures as well

I tried that and it told me 113 L. I dunno if thats right. Anyone got any other ideas??

30L tuned to 33Hz looks good.

from modelling the specs as well, 18L for a sealed enclosure per sub looks fine. not too small. smile.gif

these subs suit sealed or ported. depends what you're after:

*sealed: easier to build, smaller and lighter box; more accurate sound (less lagginess), won't play as low or loud

*ported: more complex design, bigger and heavier box; more group delay (lag), much louder and lower
