Hey

Currently i run a now updated Panasonic headunit that has reached near the end of what i can do with it tuning wise (there wasn't a great deal to 'tune' in the first place). With the setup i have sounding the best it ever has i feel its time to start getting an idea of the type of headunit i want as a replacement.

The Alpine CDA9855R (same headunit as Nuts) has everything i need at present and opens up a whole bunch of options that at present i don't have like time alignment etc. My biggest problem atm is that i am fairly certain that i will get to the point where i will want to have the option of running dvds etc and so now i'm looking at what units are avaliable with everything i need + a decent display and dvd capabilities possibly.

If money grew on a tree i'd go straight out and get a 310E without a second thought, which would do the best job possible i'm sure, but is massive overkill for what i have at present and in the near future.

Being only new to this i'm not gonna sit here and pretend to know a great deal as i'm only just getting into the audio side of things. So just as a rough guide i'd prefer to stick to Alpine, only because out of all the systems i have seen a lot of units have what i want in a headunit but at the same time i want to try and get as much 'tuneability' as possible. Only problem is the budget, might start getting tight as it gets closer to the 1k mark but we'll see.

Any help would be great, thanks

Matt

A bit of both honestly.

I do run an iPod atm from an output but i'd still like the storage there so i don't always need to have it in the car, its just something else to try to hide when i park sorta thing. I'd primarily liked to have the dvd for the video, though its not essential that i have a flip out screen as long as i have the option later on if i wish to add a screen.

as an option for the time being..
have you looked at the Alpine DVA-9861E? rrp is shy of $900 and could probably do all you want, but you'll need an external screen for movies..

Hey!

Yeah mate...Im sort of in the same boat at the moment. I currently own a DEH-4650MP, which doesnt offer alot of tuning, and the fact that it only has one 2V preout isnt really helping the situation...

Im looking at a DEH-9850BT at the moment, but im unsure where i should go with it...are there better brands/head units for the same moneys...?

I need the tuning, alignment, and higher voltage preouts, because i intend to compete at CAASQ comps...

Any ideas peoples...? (Look at sig to see system...)

Alpine DVA-9861E would be a nice choice but its a headunit that plays dvd but without a screen

when you add the screen its not a cheap item but its a very good way to slowly build up a high end setup. Add a pxa-h701 and its an amazing high end system capable of 5.1 surround sound and lots of x-over, eq & TA stuff smile.gif

dont discount the clarion single din dvd screens. Features are not the best but i do like the quality of the clarion screens.

If i upgrade to a 310e i'll have a 9835 and ipod adapter you may well be interested in smile.gif Has served me very well so far. Just trying to justify the upgrade at the moment!! unknw.gif

Otherwise as jas mentioned would be my choice smile.gif

Tonba, look at the alpine 9855R, or the eclipse cd7000

alot of the ppl competing in CAASQ Vic are using them...

Last time I checked there was one in the For Sale forum.

nah, its sold AFAIK

dont think FHRX stocks eclipse, maybe dorans does, if not, then you may have to get one shipped up from adelaide car audio shop or something...

Except the Eclipse nor the Alpine 9855R have DVD capabilities....
