BLOOD DUSTER
Anyone have any idea how they make the slick bottoms of bodyboards?
Specificially the final coat? What is it and how is it applied?
Fudd
probly some sort of resin, mine looked like some sort of plastic molded into it.

yeh i thought as much, just want to know exactly what it is.
im interested to know if you can get them "reslicked" as it were...

dude, its called wax. Go into a surf shop say your looking for some wax for your bodyboard, they'll sort you out.

Uhh wax goes on the top and its sticky

well i've got a wax right here thats an "underbody varnish" type thing. It goes on, you melt it down with a lighter or a hairdryer, and buff it up. Works a treat.

Friend of mines a combat systems operator in the navy, uses the same stuff on his boots to get that perfect shiny laminated look.
Fudd
why do you need to get it re-done for?
what kinda board you got?

mine has bubbled on the bottom sad.gif so not happy.

just buy a new board. $300 buys a pretty good board these day
BLOOD DUSTER
i do artwork on surfboards and thats pretty simple, but bodyboards are a little different.

the artwork can scratch or peel or crack etc if it is not sealed properly because of the flexibility in the bodyboard. hence my refinishing requirement. any ideas?
