I'm going for my license at the start of next year, because I only have to sit the test for regulations as my course covers all the other stuff.

Do you have your full license, or just the foundation one?

Not too active these days, but occasionally hang about on the local 70cm repeater.

I'm an icom fan, have HF, 2/70 and a 70/23HT and assorted other stuff.

Is that call a typo?
didn't know you got 4 letters?

Yeah the call is right,

What does a licence enable you to do ?

Legally use frequencies on the RF spectrum which you arn't normally allowed to use.
You can also operate a radar gun legally with one too tongue.gif

Not entirely correct, but you are allowed to transmit on radio frequencies used by radar guns, shop security and car alarm fobs.

It allows you to run up to 400 watts on SSB legally (can chat all over the world without need of the internet), and play with your own TV broadcast station if you want to.
