ok in my boot i currently have a neon under the parcel shelf lighting up my amp but i also would lie some LEDs closer to the rear of the shelf to light the rest of the boot. as these are my only lighting source in the boot i'd like it to be quite bright (so you can see the gear) but not blinding. how many and what MCD LEDs should i buy? i can use liquidity's tutorial to work out the resistor(s) i will need and i will ahve these al going to common +ve's that will be run off a relay that is switched on and off by the original wiring to the boot light. what sort of relay should i get?

any help would be beneficial cheers,

Another option is buying the pre made L.E.D. sticks. They come in a multitude of colours and are easily hooked up straight to the existing wiring of the boot light and because of the low current consumption of the L.E.D.s that will negate the need for a relay. An average boot light can draw (pending on wattage) 5amp, an average L.E.D. stick will draw 300mA (0.3 amp).

places like dick smith's etc usually have led display boards. use them, get info on the brightest ones in the colour you want, then go home and see if you can find anything brighter on the net tongue.gif

haha nice. reason i don't want an LED strip is it may be more visible from outside the boot (i have four access sort of panels i can put LEDs in.

in that case, go to www.jaycar.com.au and look up "luxeon" or "Star module".

5w leds come in white, and will literally burn a hole in your eye (well, black out vision for a while) if you look directly at them (like any spotlight) for more than an instant (use a diffusing lense, about $5 and sits over the top)

well placed neon bars work well. ive gone with green to suit the darker green of the car's paint.

slightly blurry, but you get the idea smile.gif

well all my trim in hte boot is black so light isn't really reflected. the neon is nice but isn't that bright and i don't have much more space for more. i am tossing up between white, blue or a mix (two of each) for the downlights. luxeons sound good though very expensive i feel.

what do you guys think, two blue and two white 1 watt luxeons or 1 blue one white 3 watt luxeons or two 3 watt blue luxeons?
