Looking to buy one of the new-fangled slimline Pioneer subs as I don't want to change my boot install to fit a larger magnet of a more powerful sub.
Going from a Rockford Fosgate 50RMS punch to a Pioneer TS-SW1241D, what kind of difference shall I expect? It'll be powered by a 2x150RMS amp bridged.
Are these subs as good as the larger subs of the same RMS specs?
Any personal experiances with these subs?
What are they going for these days new and 2nd hand?
Thanks for your time,
Rob

Considering its teh slimline one you would only need a 6 cu FT box Sealed that is!

I've just reviewed the Pioneer and Clarion slim line subwoofers for the next issue of INCAR magazine. I found that while they're very practical, they do lack serious bass output (due to them having a comparitively low excursion) and they tend to roll off quite high compared to other subwoofers within the same price point.

well any slimline subs going to be a compromise.
How do they fare against any other slimline subs? (not sure if others exist, apart from the...is it phass? hmm...honeycomb flat faced sub).

Hey Marty,
Given the slimlines are so thin, and they roll off early, could they potentially be used as a massive midbass? What did your tests determine with regards to speed? :grins: I feel an idea coming on here....

for the price and extensive custom mounting required, it'd probably be easier to mount a proper beefy midbass driver.

I dont care about the price, I just think it would be ausome having a 12" midbass!! Some 5" tweeters, 8" mids and 12" midbass with an 18" subwoofer, all up front. Now thats a treat!!!

Marty> Any comment in comparison to Morel Elates 9" or 10" woofers (or even the new Supremos)?
Those elates are faily shallow for what they are - 72mm for the 9".

i got to listen and test the pioneer sub a while back.
believe me not worth writing home about
was considering putting 1 in my ute as i don't have much space but then opted for a Jl Audio 6' sub in a tube.
bloody awesome

i looked at 8" Pioneers slimline sub, it's T-S parameters are far from subwoofer parameters, they are like for some 6" midbass. This 8" isnt sub, it's midbass
