Someone once told me that mid-bass is like the holy grail of car audio. Coming from a guy that used to triple drop every saturday nite, not sure how reliable that part is. Anyways...
At the moment have 165K2P's and 130KP in my front doors running of an Alpine MRV-F545. While this setup is very loud would like some more mid-bass when it comes to certain types of music.
Been thinking of pulling out from the door the 165K2P's and puting in the 165KBE (bass extension kit) and then relocating 165KP's (on dash/centre speaker/wateva/whereeva...).
Or do i just get a bigger amp?
Anythoughts?

Have you sound deadened your doors? That makes a BIG improvement to the midbass. I have focal 165 Slims, and after sound deadening, the midbass increased without changing amps/HU settings.
Look
here for info on how to sound deaden. If you've already done that, maybe check the setting of your HU first. I'm not trying to be condescending, but it may be as simple as upping the mid bass frequencies before you spend any cash

Doors are deadened, everything tuned...
Just have a feeling that a dedicated mid-bass driver would put a bigger smile on my face.

Or u could try the Digital Designs DDW6.5 woofers, they have a heap of midbass and i could only imagine what the DDW6.5LT Long Throw ones would be like.

The K3P/KBE is a dedicated midbass driver,
it plays slightly harder, and much deeper and more fuller sounding as a midbass driver
than the K2P,
the K2P as a midbass is more in your face and kicky (like rainbow kicks), where the K3P is more refined and smooth in it's bass response, the K3P also uses and is capable of handling much more power than the K2P, and is less effecient in use (regardless of the specs).
the biggest advantage of the K3P over the k2P in regards to midbass is that it's more "full" sounding,
it plays deeper and warmer/fuller, and it's action and function is more like that of a subwoofer than a midbass/midrange.
the K3P cannot be used properly as a 3/4 range driver like the K2P, the k3P is for midbass duties up to 400hz only. It was designed from the ground up as a midbass driver.
The K3P is extremely precise as a midbass driver, very fast, solid and hard hitting without being peaky in the 100-160hz range like most midbass drivers tend to suffer. This means it blends much easier with your subwoofer and it's possible to achieve that seemless bass feel using these drivers properly setup.
The only thing to remember with the K3P is that it can only be used in a 3 way arrangement. and shouldn't be used as a bass driver in a 2 way component. In combination with a super sensitive 3/5" midrange driver can create a pretty impressive set of 3 ways.

Agree with what Juls said and -
I have K2Ps with the bass extension kit running fully active and the K2 driver is hardly doing anything (bandbassed between 250Hz - 2kHz)
The 130KP with the bass extension kit would be an excellent combination. No need to re-locate the 165K2Ps
Guaranteed you will have a bigger smile on your face!
