Hi all,

I am planning an upgrade early next year for my front stage. i need midbass, i have put up with the 4" for long enough.

what i am after is recommendations for speakers within the $400-600 price bracket. I want nice clear sound and plenty of midbass. planning to run off an eaudio 480AB bridged or maybe a DD C2a not yet sure.

anyway i have been thinking of:

Atomic QT6.2C2 (hope to get a listen soon)
DD 6.5W splits
Morel Elate 6 (think they fit in the price range)
Boston SL60

and maybe offerings from Eton, PG, Phass, Rainbow, CDT (whatever models fit in price)

is anybody able to make any recommendations, i hope to get auditioning before i get the money, just so i will know exactly what i want before i guy bargaining biggrin.gif specific models will be preferred.

oh and i plan to get pods made up for them as 6" wont fit in my doors i beleieve, and then i will build a new parcel shelf and move the Focal 100V2 to there still powered off their JL e2150

and if possible where i could audition in ACT

thanks

Here is where you can get:
Boston - Audiotech
DD,Morel,Phass,Eton,Rainbow & CDT No one in canberra
PG- Used to get it from Audiotech but i think Elite Car Sound has them in stock
Focal-BDL
Dynaudio or DLS i know that Super Audio Installations stock them.

I can definitely recommend the DDW6.5 Splits.
Now that i have them running off an Eclipse EA4000 amp they are getting 150wrms each side.

The Midbass form these are Awesome and play well down to 30-40hz and u can feel it. Its like i have a small sub in each door, especially considering the woofers have bigger magnets than some 12" subs i have seen.
And they sound awesome too, the tweeter plays low and hard, perfect for dash or sail mounting.
They have Way more midbass then a friends Boston SL60's thats for sure.

Auditioning in a demo board is not going to help u choose the best midbass response because i have always found demo boards to lack midbass.

Might be hard to get them in ACT though, let alone audition them.

But i dont think you would be dissapointed if you bought em without auditioning.

I've seen many members here lately buying DDW6.5 splits and they are all happy with the midbass smile.gif

If U could get ur hands to either Eton or Phass midbass then U have my 1st vote..The Phass Alnico midbass I'm using myself its a beautiful midbass good.gif

EDIT: U should audition them all 1st, coz diff people have diff taste.

What are ya doin over there?

I'm sure I've seen your car on our street in WA

I was going to suggest you listen to my K3Ps, Yes the highs are bright and a bit harsh (depends what you listen to) but the midbass is fantastic, very nice.

They cost around $1400 which is over your budget but it would give you an idea of what midbass sounds like

but you're over the other side -

yeah i moved to canberra from perth for work about 3 months ago

Would second that as the Eton Discovery is one of my favourite mids that I have heard in car audio.
