Hi guys,
Well Im planning on getting a two way Supremo set. I have been set on getting the 9" midbass and the tweeter, but I have two problems.
1. Im not sure if having a 9" midbass will leave too big a gap in the midrange. I know the tweeter plays down to 1400Hz and going from the Elate 9" the midbass should play up to about 3000Hz, but Im not sure if they will do it well. Would having to cross the midbass so high mean it couldnt play the lower midbass as well, and therefore negate the reason to have a 9" midbass. Does anyone have any ideas?
2. Im not sure if I could physically fit a 9" midbass in my doors. It doesnt look like theres a lot of room, especially since the power window controls are right above it. I have attached pics of my doors so that you can see for yourselves. What do people think?
Tim (s_tim_ulate) also told me this a while ago on the Aussie Magna forum:
"FYI: The Elate 9 is a tight fit but my no means impossible behind stock trims. Saves a crap load on custom installation. (You just need a jigsaw and 12mm mdf to mount it on)
But with a 9" in the door you will need to factor in lots of door prep (read: ESSENTIAL!)"
Does this mean I'd be able to get it in there without modifying the door? It would be good if I could, then I could put stock speakers back in if I sell the car in the future.
Thanks
Dave

i diddnt read it all but you will get a huge gap between them.
you need a dedicated midrange.

i think that only subs should be 9's, a 9 inch midbass is overkill, nothing beats a fast and loud 6, with a nice sub...
get a shallow 6, and give it more power, less mods, less headaches, better midrange,
most 6's can play down to at least 70 hz anyway...

So you think it would be better to go the Supremo 6 rather than 9? I was thinking about that as it would be a direct swap, so not expensive install, and if I sell the car in the future and want to take these out, I can put the stock ones straight back in.
But Im not sure if I would somehow end up disappointed with the midbass of the 6, although I am trying to get a Phoneix Gold Xenon 200.4 to power it.
So aside from the fact there could be a gap in the midrange, do people actually think it could fit in the doors?
Thanks
Dave

if you want big midbass, give them about 250-300 watts per woofer, seal the crape out of the doors, and make them as dead as elvis...
morel tend to have a nice midbass, and so im sure the supremo wont dissapoint, 6's will be fine,
if you do all that and arent happy, you can kick me in the balls!!!!

To be quite honest I don't think you will be disapointed in the mid bass. Mine is solid with only around 125wrms per channel

Yes, id definately sav avoid a 9" midbass in a two way set. Even a 6" is genery a compromise when it comes to midrange, i'd bot even consider a 9".
