Still need a sub amp but I've been thinking about selling the Boston G5 and putting some 8" subs in the doors. That might affect what amp to look for so first things first.

I'm thinking of moving the midbass up to where the midrange is and have 4" mids in stock location in the dash. This presents two main problems.

1. How to get an enclosure inside the doors, should I go for free-air subs?
(I'll get around to measuring things up tomorrow)

2. Someone told me that 4" mids in dash will ruin the soundstage, what are your opinions?

The reason I'm considering this is I really like having the extra space in the van for my work gear.

Sounds like a great idea!! besides why shouldn't it work though I'd probably want some kind of processor to help with tuning though, anyway check this car mosoto posted in another thread, its a long thread be warned

Or even mine, I have my midrange and tweeter in the "A" pillar and it definitely needs time allignment but with it, it sounds fine!

put a couple free-air subs in that barrier you have and ull be laughin

you may need you secure it a bit better with a sheet of mdf though

MDF/Melamine same dif

I used to have 6x9s and a shallow sub in the back but even the small space they took up was annoying. Also the trouble with speakers behind the seats is I put my esky, water bottle, bag and CDs back there. It muffles the sound and a sub needs room to propogate.
But yeah if it's too hard to get subs in the doors I'll try them in the cargo barrier again but smaller subs might work better. The 12" attached to that sheet of melamine shakes the whole damn van.

Hey Luke that Norwegan guys project is extreme to say the least. Re-constructing the dash - Aaahh not for me!

That guy has speakers mounted on top of the dash and someone queried him about sound for the passenger because the speaker is practically right in front. This is lousy for a good front stage but the stock speaker locations in my van are closer to the doors so that problem isn't as bad. They face down a bit but is that a problem? Is it really bad for the sound quality?
Of course I can test it out myself using the stock speakers but if someone can tell me some technical reasoning, that would be a great help.

About the subs in doors, I've posted a question specifically on sub enclosures in doors in the Fabrication/Istallation discussion

Any help would be great, thanks
