I have a pair of DA M5's and one of them is dead.
Now I have to decide on whether to purchase a new single DA tweeter, or I can go cheap and grab some from like Jaycar?
What would you guys recommend?

Haha!

I would consider purchasing a good brand of tweeters, but it depends on how much it'll set me back!
I'm not keen on spending say $150 on just tweeters, considering I only got these for about $350 a few years ago.

Although I know I should have already looked at prices, but what would be a ballpark figure to get some decent tweeters? Would the specs of different brand tweeters need to be highly considered to match up with the crossovers?

Well the DA tweeters are actually just a varient of these.

Except the DA version are 4 ohm not 8 ohm I'd imagine. That price is $43 USD so you it would be about $150 max shipped in Aus dollars but I don't know if 8 ohm ones would work with your crossover maybe someone else can answer that for you. But I'll keep looking for you.

Here's the Aluminium version if thats what yours are.

Thanks for the link Luke smile.gif

I'm pretty sure I have the ally ones. Wouldn't know what impedence they are, I'd need to find the box, but I'd probably agree with you on 4ohms.

So that leaves me with the question, is it really worth spending that much, or should I just get some cheap ones?
I don't have much chance to really appreciate the SQ anymore since I usually drive with windows down, loud-as wind noise and passengers generally blabbering on and on.....

Ok I've done some more research apparently the DA Hex tweeters are 8 ohm so the LPG's should work.

Otherwise found this on ebay US

You could see if this seller will post to Aus, he is apparently a trusted seller from what I found on another forum and I suggest everyone checks his store as he has some really nice stuff for sale lots of old skool Orion HCCA, 2ohm midbass etc...

Hope i helped.

Luke

P.S. I forgot to add these are from the newer series of the hex series but they should be pretty similar and work fine.
