today i went to alberts and had a look at 12" subs under 200bux
wanted something for good SQ without spending way too much

from the top of my head it was Alpine SWS1222D which was 300W, Eclipse was 220W and Rockford below 200W RMS ... i couldn't get to listen to each of them properly as they were installed in cabinets and it kept rattling...could hear the loudness but not the SQ...so was wondering what people's opinions were for these 3 brands for SQ
Powerband
Pioneer 306 subs are said to be very good for the price
Last time I checked was about $180

My perference would be Eclipse, Alpine and RockFord in that order. Eclipse is quiet good for their subs, headunits and Amps. Their subs can go quiet low, very tight and quiet accurate. Very good subs for SQ.

Alpines are a good all rounder for types of music but mainly dance/techno. I'm not a real fan of RockFord but their strenghts I reckon is in their amps. Their subs quiet loud and bassy, quite good if you're into rock or metal music but I find the RF are too bright for my liking.

laugh.gif Hehe did I say that? Fark, blond moment rolleyes.gif , there speakers are bright IMO, subs are boomy, bassy, five minutes of it gives me a headache and just forget about the bright thing, as I said blonde moment rofl.gif .

There are some some brands can never compete with a with other SQ brands for example:

DD, Pioneer, MTX, Kicker, RockFord, etc to something like Focal, Diamond or Image Dynamics but they probary kick there azz in SPL. Brand/subs are geared towards SPL tend to lose SQ obviously because SQ means sweet FA to SPL and of coarse vice versa, probary the closest sub to both worlds is the IDMAX, SQ but still kicks.
