what front speakers do u have, are your front doors sound deadened, are your front speakers running from stock crossover units, or active from headunit?

generally sub-sonic should be around 20-30Hz
sliksilvia
front a boston pro 6.5" doors are s/dead they are running active from amp.

the sub is in a sealed box
Pulse-R
id set it around 20 to 25Hz
just to limit the excursion of the sub a bit.
mac_man_luke
Your pretty safe without it in a sealed box, very hard to bottom out the sub

I wouldnt set it at all. The IDMAX is fairly hardcore in terms of power handling, and the sealed enclosure does limit its mechanical limits. If you do set it, try the lowest you can go. 20Hz is usually the highest Ill ever try, if its on at all.

agreed.

bah! everyone tells me different,

marty tells me to leave it off,
zapco says to leave it at 15hz
Image Dynamics says to leave it at 25hz

im setting it at 20hz ! ahah

It is all depend on the kind of music U listen to. Generally speaking, if you are listening to your music on a propper level, you won't need to turn it on at all. Your system will sound better wih no subsonic at all. In my case I LP my sub at 40Hz 54dB slope with no HP at all. My sub is only 10"
sliksilvia
why waste the power on something you can not hear tho?
~thematt~
It doesnt consume any noticeable power though. And its all because you cant hear it. Thats the point

isnt 40Hz a bit low?
blkmgk
you will probaly need test tones at low frequencies like 20-30hz to set it too.
because i know alot of subsonic filter adjustment knobs are pretty inacurate with the markings. (like mine)

40 Hz isnt really that low...

alot of systems have the sub only playing 20-60Hz, and rely on the front stage to help play above 60Hz

you may have meant isnt that a little high.....

i feel that its a bit high......should be like, 25Hz...

He meant (and wrote) LP not his subsonic filter. No one in their right mind would LP their sub at 25hz.

Whilst I've never heard golf_bhts setup (being in thailand and all too), he has an excellent rep. for having a quality system, and I'm sure that he can get away with such a LP freq with a front stage that is able to extend that low (to 40hz) - especially with such a sharp filter.

If you have a front stage that reproduces the sound spectrum nicely, you wouldnt need a sub behind you. Golf's setup, like many others, simply has the subs filling in that last octave. Its indicative of a fantastic midbass/front end.
