As the topic says, I'm just after some thought's on how these performed in a car audio environment. I am purchasing one for my home stereo, but am now considering running it in the car. I am using my Focal 27V2's in the home stereo at the moment and they sound great, and think that the 12" Tumult might be a better bet in the car, particularly with 1200WRMS behind it.

I've held one... BEASTY subs!!
Didnt get a listen though.

I'd go a Brahma over a Tumult, as they are designed for incar usage, where as Tumults are designed for home usage.

the tumult was very similar to my 13w7 on leap.

should be a great incar sub when setup and should outperform a brahma (however looks like the box is going to be very big compared to the smaller VAS of the brahma).

tumult is in my top 5 single subbass drivers of all time.

Cheer's guys.

The Tumult has a very low Fs (around 18-19Hz) and coupled with incabin gain, should lead to it being able to hit some very low notes! It would be going into a VE Commodore, and they have huge boot's so that's all good. The Distributor recommends an enclosure size around 60L, so I don't know why you think that a large box is required?

Its Dual 2ohm, so I'm thinking that I'll run the VC's in parallel and drive around 1200wrms into the beast, that should get some tunes out of it!

official adire audio forum, should be able to find some very good info there.

by all reports its an absolutley fantastic woofer.

Just out of curiosity where are you getting it from and how much is it costing you?

Quick modelling job in WinISD created this. I think the 90L enclosure will be better as it has a more linear rolloff suited to the car environment.

The Red line is optmised for a Qtc of .707, and is a 28L enclosure, with the Yellow line optimised for a Qtc of 0.5 and is 90L.
