im currently mid way thru my car build up and i need an amp to run my front stage active, HU is 9815 so nothing special is needed in the preamp section, i basically want somthing with around 50-100wrms per channel @ 4ohm, i kno specs dont alwasy tell you all about an amp, but from what ive seen on here im looknig for somthing that is gonig to give me good clean power(low THD?), have good stereo seperation and have a low noise floor(S/N???)

ive got about 350 to spend, and from looking at retail on some nicer amps, im guessing im gonig to have to look second hand. anything come to mind that may have been released a few years ago that fits the bill? guessing somthing with around a 500-700price tag new would go for around 350 now

im thinking somthing from Audison? Eclipse? maybe a alpine 345 or 545 amp? dont care about looks and dont care about size as long as its not got 1 side longer than 400mm

give me some brands and soem models, throw me some ideas. obviously the more powerful the better, my midbasses alone call for 70wrms and i want to give them as much as i can, later on i plan to run a set of XT25's tweets as well.

personal opinions guys/gals or maybe u read somthing on here in the past?

yes. thats quite a nice amp. either a F340, or the bigger MRV-F540 if u can get one. they should be going for about your price range.

obviously the F340 and F540, are the models before the latest F345 and F545 amps.

Though birthsheets for the F345's may read 100+ wrms per channel (mine reads 103wrms), and for the F545's some have reported in excess of 160wrms per channel. im sure the older V12's would easily exceed their rated power outputs aswell, so u will need to confirm this with the seller.

I've seen some of the older C4s going for that kind of money second hand.

2x75 and 2x150Wrms, plus it has bandpass crossovers so you can go active mid/tweet etc.

It won "multi-channel amp of the year" in 2006.

Phil, the crossovers aboard the C4 wouldnt be needed anyways, as jono has a 9815, so all crossovers will be done at the touch of a finger, and would be (arguably) more accurate, (in terms of exact frequencies, rather than a pot)...

tho its alot easier to tune crossovers from the HU, for one, its in easy reach, and 2, u can see what ur tuning to, rather than guessing with a pot, that goes from 50hz-500hz (as an example)...

I find the JL Audio 300/4 to be a capable amplifier, at about $350 second hand.
it has plenty of crossover selections (hi/lo pass up to 5kHz, 12 or 24dB/oct)and can be bridged to 2x150RMS.

slash series amps were high on my agenda before i bought my 9815. exactly for their crossovers. ok

how about cadence... i've got the FX604 amp 4ch 60Wrms @ 4ohms... i have one in my car n i'm thinkin about buying a second one... u don't see allot of reviews but i love it... i got mine for a steal of a bargain $260 from JB HIFI... they normally retail for $360 but u might get it for $300... or u could go for the more powerfull FX1004 amp 4ch 100Wrms @ 4ohms... can't remember how much but i'm guessing it'll be over $400

cheers mate, but in looking at it it doenst really seem to fit the bill. if i just want raw power ill buy an amp from my work(jaycar) 4x130wrms for under 300dollars u jsut cant beat it for power, but im after crisp clean power. even if i have to take a little less to get cleaner power ill do it.

if u buy new you could always do laybuy.....thats how im paying for my 345

I'm comparing my FX604 Cadence to the Schneider i have... and i would have to say that the Cadence is very nice... it CAN deliver that clean crisp power... i think it'll be worthwhile to at least check it out

guys n gals i thought id update this. i ended up going with a 2nd hand F4 380 Audiosystem amp 4x95wrms.

any of my othe choices would have been very suitable tho. this came up at the right price at the right time.
