Hi Guys,

This is my first post on this forum and i'm hoping to obtain some information i can use to upgrade my speaker system in my vehicle. I currently have six inch speakers mounted in the front doors and it appears that there may be tweeters mounted somewhere in the dash. I have narrowed down my new speaker to a focal 160 v2 speaker which will fit the rather shallow door to enable proper fitting.

I think the focals will drop straight into the door without any modifications to the trim but i have noticed that part of the speaker will be hidden once the door is closed. It looks like that door had a lack of space and the speaker is placed close to the front dash and obscures part of the speaker cone.

I haven't had any experience installing speakers, except about 20 years ago in my old holden.

Has anyone had any experience installing new speakers in a ford futura? What did you do apart from installing 6 inch replacement speakers in the door? Do you think a pod could be installed as an alternative?

Any advice is great appreciated.

You could bother with a pod, but the dash doesn't really block all that much cone area. (I used to have an EL). And yeah you will have some tweeters in the dash.

Thanks for the advice. On closer look i agree that the speaker isn't that obscured by the dash and it
will suffice. I am looking at also installing 8inch focal v1's in the rear shelf. I have an lpg tank and i need to
obtain 8 inch pods about 4cm in height. Any ideas where i can source them from in australia?

Have a look in JB Hifi, I know they have the 6x9's and 6" pods, unsure if they have the 8" though.

Considered building the pods yourself?...
