I just turned my car dvd player on and there is no sound... I checked all the wires and they look like they are ok, it has power but no sound.. does any one have any idea what it could be??

You need to provide a lot more details!
What dvd player is it, is the sound put through an separate amp and have you just put this unit in or has it been in for ages & just starting to stuff up now? smile.gif

I would be checking rca's if they are plugged in correctly and that if the sound passes through an amp that the amp's power connections are ok too...

It is a pioneer AVH-P6550DVD... just runs to the speakers no amp.. and when i turn it on.. i hear a click kind of noise.. It was put in by wow sight and sound about 4-5 months ago.. So only new still..

Wiring problem or blown internal amp, that's pretty much all it can be.

Hi Mate,

Did the problem start after the battery had been disconnected?
j0sh
nah, just all of a sudden, there was no sound... is there any places i can take this to? to find out whats wrong with it?
Stone
The place that installed it. They should be able to take it out and either check your wiring or check the unit on a bench or demo board.

wow should do a 12 month install warranty at least. take it to them and get them to check it.

It sounds like a shorted speaker wire. Most headunits shut down the internal amp as soon as there is a short. You can normally tell which speaker is shorting by listening for the click/pop noise when the unit is first turned on. It will come from the speaker that is shorted.
