i was just wondering where i would find out how to get the details on how to design them. i.e. sound deadening, how many runs of 0gd do i use, where to find the best wiring for the cheapest price. that sort of stuff.

try search as many forums as possible, find people with them cars send them pms. but you mostly have to test and found out for yourself. 0 gauge depends on how many amps you run, ring up all the audio shops and see where you can get the cheapers wire is, also try welding flex that can be had cheaper at places like BOC. if your building a wall maybe look at some build up pics of some cars check out michaels TeAm ShonKy Max thread, black ice's festiva thread. also check out termpro for builds up.

also i dont think there is a ultimate spl design as every car is different and some thing that work in one car doesnt work in another. i suggest you pick your class first then research what equipment you can have for the class, pick your equipment and then design your car for that equipment

will be running 2 atm but will possibly go up to 8 amps if i go into street max 3-4 ( i.e. 1 each v/c) but eventually if i stay in max 1-2 will be running 4 amps. yeah have read steve's and michaels theads. great ideas but i need to see what other options there are out there that are very useful to me. i have a ford laser 89.

thanks heaps man
Roo
ok well if your running 4 amps you need heaps of runs, you want under 100amp per a run of 0 gauge. just search through forums but you find that they are pretty much all sub on the meter side and port on the drivers side. i think you just build the wall the biggest you can, get the biggest port you can and take it from there. maybe wait for some of the people who have built walls to give some advice.

and if i wanted to go no-wall?
Michae1
Roo pretty well covered it.

Lay your cable FIRST and just do like 10 runs each way.tongue.gif

Basically.........pick a class, build a "box" as big as possible whilst still allowing room for upto the maximum amount of amps allowed in chosen class.

If possible, build the box with a flat back wall.

Subs as close as possible to the passenger side of the car, try to get them stacked one on top of the other, as close as possible, also try to keep them off the floor as high as possible.

Port, make it as big as possible and as close as possible to the drivers side (Ie: dont want the port to start 10" in from side of car)start with a square port edge on the baffle.

Over engineer everything, don't use concrete, use steel and a mix of sand and resin instead.

Use the biggest subs you can fit on the baffle, think of it this way, 2 18s are equivlent to 3 15s wink.gif

dont go no wall, u need batteries wink.gif

Come play in Max 1-2 biggrin.gif

What car is this Phil.
And whos is it.
Michae1
it is a 1981 Honda Civic Wagon.

Now calls GT Autosound in Adelaide home and competes in EX1-2.
DD Phil
Aaron actually owns the car now, "Soundteam Freash".

At AAS it ran 164.3 on one woofer, as a head unit ground problem caused an amp/woofer failure. sad.gif

For 2007 its getting 99Zs and a bunch more power. smile.gif
