hey,

time to shift ye ole ECU in my R31 skyline. for those who have done this before, what possible issues could arise by cutting and soldering an extension into the loom?

i cant think of any other than not mixing the wires up and making sure the battery is drained, thought i'd better check before i go cutting stuff up

cheers

Ask Pyro he did it.

Be wary of shielded wires. Some cars have them. Some dont.
TEGBOY
I think you should be fine, just go a single wire at a time.

and get ur self a full schematic of the car.

shielded wires are generally used in ignition systems. to prevent electrical noise from false triggering a sensor etc. how ever any sensitive sensor such as knock sensors etc may have shielded cables.

back again, im away from the net during the week so couldn't reply.

there are no shielded wires going into the ECU, so we should be ok!!

i think i can mount it up behind in between the glovebox and the ducting for the a/c as i had a look when i pulled the dash apart the other day.

anyway, thanks for the reply's guys

If you can, get a chunk of ecu loom from the wreckers. It will keep all the colour coding correct.
