They aren't easy to come by, I'm hoping that a good customer of mine who wants to import some vintage motorbikes from the UK in a container might bring one in for me and we can share costs.

Pandas aren't exactly something that are easy to come by here in Australia. sad.gif

I know thats why i am asking for any info.
Can not fit two in there can he/her.
HISPL
I haven't seen him in a while, he goes away for business quite a bit.

This is a pretty slim chance, I'm not going to hold my breath.

I think you will find it a pretty hard task to find one in Australia.

You have to purchase the vehicle before applying for DOTARS exception.

They don't fit the rules, but if brought in as a promotional vehicle it is possible.

Or so they tell me............smile.gif

Yea it has to be before 1989 from what i here to have it registered in Ausralia i did know that.
But if i got one it would most likly not be registered because it would be my pure SPL car.
SStealth
If your not going to register it bring the car in as parts, ie take the engine out and get it put in the same container seperate to the car. You save money on duty and taxes that way. Alot of money.

Ok sounds good.

You need DOTARS approval even if you're not going to register it.

This is required for Customs Clearance. Any item that is imported into this country needs to be cleared.

So for it to be cleared do you have to do anything or is just a matter of them looking at it and say no durgs and stuff in there its clear to go.

I did not know if it was not going to be registered it still had to pass something to get in the country.
Is there a website about this DOTARS (i am sure there is)
Thanks Phil you are being helpful on this one Cheers.

I'm always helpful! smile.gif

I found a 1988 Panda with 60k on the clock for AU$800

http://www.dotars.gov.au/

Try http://www.autotrader.co.uk/

would the cost of importing a Panda outweigh the benefit it will provide?

e.g. say the Panda costs $3-4k landed, duties, taxes etc. that's almost another Z2.

or another 99xx plus a bucket load of 0ga and MDF

yeah but its a panda man - and thats cool!

You don't need dotars approval for car parts Phil. If its not being registered in Australia, Dotars has nothing to do with it.

Did you mean to rub it in like that? tongue.gif
DeeCee
yes.. mainly cos i'm taking the engine and box out of the extreme car and putting it into the panda.. we got given a superstreet car that we will be pushing up to extreme smile.gif

i had a good christmas.. cept for the appedicitis surgery and fun complications which have given me thus far 4 weeks of rehab and daily visits to outpatients clinic to get dressings on an open wound..

But good SPL christmas.. and its my second panda lol

DeeCee do you live in Australia.
If so were did you get your panda from watt country.
And watt did it cost to get it here.
trism
he is from EN ZED if im correct..
DeeCee
I live in New Zealand as Trism said..

I'd be looking at any car with a flat windscreen that looks like a box..
Lada Nivas.. Suzuki SJ410/413's.. euro hatchs best in a 2/3 door with frame doors.. less leaks you see smile.gif

I have been looking in New Zealand for one is there any other sites apart from Trademe to buy cars in NZ.
Also could you help in orangize one to come to Australia.
DeeCee
trademe is probably your easiest bet as most car yards wouldn't even touch the rust buckets.

Unfortunately i'm too busy to help you organise a car over there.. and then there is the matter of actually finding one that is in good nick as well..

Look towards fiat uno's as well.. not as unique as a panda.. but more common in NZ and just as good for some burping..
