I need help from the forum to recommend installer around Chadstone, Victoria area. I have the following items to install into a 1994 E36 BMW 325i convertible (small boot).
- CVA1003E & cd changer
- Audison VrX 2.250 amplifier
- Dynaudio 240MK2 component speakers (will need the door lining to be cut to fit)
- JL Audio 500/1 mono amp
- JL Audio 12w6v2 subwoofer (no idea how it will fit into the boot without taking up all the space - will need to get the installer to provide sub box or custom fit)

Additional work contemplating on doing during the install:
- Upgrade battery cable to 0AWG
- Installation of the system with 8AWG power cables
- May need to install capacitor (1 Farad) - NEED ADVICE if I need it at all
- Fit Dynamat Extreme on door panels etc. - NEED ADVICE of the best places in the car to install it

How much would an install like the above cost? I have all the speaker cables, interconnects, and will be getting the 0AWG, 8AWG and distribution units as well as the capacitor (if required) once I have decide on the installer and have a discussion with the installer. Please HELP... Thanks

Definatly $600+ depending on how detailed and involved the install is.

We work on about $450/500 per day plus materials depending on how involved the installation is and how long it will take.

I wouldnt be looking at what it will cost at the moment. The most important thing is to find an installer that you trust with your car. Discuss with them the options that you are considering. See if they can show you examples of other cars they have done. Talk with the installer who will actually be working on your car.

You have really nice gear and you want it installed right so definately go with sound deadening plus 0 and 4 gauge power wires ( both the Audison and JL accept 4 gauge). If your going to do it - do it right the first time.

As far as the cap goes I would recommend spending that money on a good battery.

Have you spoken to the store that sold you the gear. They would be familiar with it and be able to give you an idea of where it will work best in your car.

Then they should be able to give you an idea of cost. It wont be cheap, especially if going with any custom work ( fibreglass enclosures/door trims ). Like HISPL said it costs about $500 a day at most respectable shops and it sounds like yours will take longer than that.

Thanks to all for the advice. I will try to call Gary's Car Radio (Sang on 9873800) to talk to them before I commit to any installation. Any idea what is their address? I will also look into a new battery (probably optima or the likes). Any recommendation on which is a good battery to have?

I would definatly recommend Sam and the guys at Phatt Audio. I sent down some DD splits for them to fit in my friends VW Golf. Did a great job for the right price, don't forget you get what you pay for. Personally I wouldn't go to the cheapest guy in town, that's just me but.......

Sang at Gary's Car Radio. They are the largest high end company and have been doing it for 25 years, they have all the latest equipment available for your car. They also have more experiance than select individual stores plus a huge technical support network. Because they are bigger than most stores they can provide better value for money and be able to do the car in one day. 474 Whitehorse Road Mitcham 9873800.
