hey,
just wondering how people would compare the ALPINE DDLINEAR 6.5" splits
to the MB Quart DISCUS 6.5" splits?
My audio guy is swearing by the discus and i'm happy to believe him just wondering on a second opinion. Heard alot of great stuff about the linears, but he reckons discus craps on them?

Hey mate,

I am currently running MB Quarts Discuss DSF 216's and they are sensational for the price!

They absolutely put DD linears to shame (I was looking at DD linear's but once i heard them i changed my mind very quickly!)

The mid bass is stunning (to my ears anyway) and al though people will tend to say they are bright (i guess due to the titanium tweeters) if your mount your tweeters low (ie - kicks, near your mids etc) they will sound mint wink.gif

Anyway, go for it, you won't regret it!

very nice splits, i quite like them, very laid back, not bright, and very good midbass.
MADTRAV
MB over Alpine, speaker wise, anyday.
....
Two completely different speakers.
Each has a very opposite style to the other.

If you like one, I'll pretty much guarantee you'll hate the other.

Out of the two you are looking at, I would take the MB's albeit they are way too pre coloured, they are prefered by most people as the DDLinears are more flat sounding

Cut a long story short...

MB = more "musical" sounding
DDL = great for talkback radio

I have a set of the discus, never heard the DDlinears, but the discus do have some great midbass, very bright tho, might wanna wack em in your kicks or face em towards your windscreen on -3 Db if you find em a bit bright.

Great speakers IMHO
