dyn are very smooth, and opaque, it just sounds really nice especially passive,
focal are more forward and in your face, but also nice and detailed, a nice speaker
morel are similar to dyn, but have more midbass, and are a bit more aggressive
and dls iv never heard...
id also look at oz audio, and polk audio, among many more,
listen to as many as you can then you decide,
but, dont just buy the first one you hear, as they are all nice, but you will like one more than another,
and also, when you demo them, crank them, and really put em through there paces..

Well depending on your budget, the Hertz Mille's are an awesome sounding set of speakers. I had a listen to those at Fhrx studios and IMO they were the pick of the bunch currently available to demo. Focal K2P165
s sounded really nice, as did Oz Audio Matrix 180's. I'd' definitely look at Morel closely as they're available at fantastic prices these days. I wasn't overly impressed with the Dyn 242 splits, they just didn't do as much for my ears as the Hertz Mille's or Focal...
Listen to as many as you can. They're all good but no doubt your ears will prefer one more than another.

Hye guys,,
Thanks a lot for all your inputs.. I am basically from New Delhi, India and will be vising Sydney in March for about 3 months on business assignment and would like to take that oppurtunity to hear the different brands of speakers. I will be purchsing the speakers from Sydney itself as most good high end systems are not available in India as yet. It would be jsut great if you could point me out to the names and adresses of retail outlets in Sydney where I would be able to do the same.
Regards,

FHRX studios and Doran pro audio would be some of the best places to go as they have a huge range. Definately recommend FHRX

In that case I will recommend the Morel Supremo set 6, absolutely lovely speakers, smooth and not as attacking as the hertz Mille (although another very nice speaker). Might be hard to get a listen to as I'm not sure if many people have them. Maybe RMA can advise you how many sets are around? You will need to run these actively, so take this into account and make sure your amp/hu has the ability, or you can purchase a seperate outboard cross over.

Definitely email Marty at FHRX. He's got a heap of top quality speakers available for auditioning at the moment. And if you are after something that is not bright (and based on your budget), I'd recommend the DLS 6.2 Nobelium's. Very accurate, not as bright as Hertz or Focal, but more lively than Dynaudio IMO. Very smooth tweeters on these too.

How would the ID horns be with a suitable midbass in an active set up.... have read raving reviews about horns.. they would slightly bash the budget though...

They would rate very well going on what I've read. They are LARGE though so take that into account, even the mini horns. It will cost you a lot of money in the instal so don't forget to take that into account, also you will probably need to EQ it to get a good frequency response from them.
