i have the option between 2 subs. 2 soundstream XXX-15 running of 4 XXX-6500's or 2 DD9915 running of 4 Z2 amps.
what do people reccomend?
what is the difference between them in handleing massive loads of power?
what has bigger punch?
and how much difference is there between the 2?
they are going in a ford laser 89 and it will be walled.
cheers

I think DD would be better Sub wize as for Amps there is a bit of differenct in price and power output too.
I take it you running 16 volts because of the Z2 if running 12 volts go soundstream or Z1 or Schnedier 7000x leo and tara love there 7000x
And i love my 7000x too and mine are for sale too cheap.

DD Z2's are beast, as are the 99xx's,
never seen heard or touched a soundstream xxx amp or sub,
but results world wide dont lie

i agree with both of you.
but as wazza said, dont even think about the Z2 unless you are plannning to run atleast 16V...

If it's a Super Street install, go Z2s and as many 16V batteries as you can fit.
If it's Street Max, go Z1a.

I think the XXX woofers will have trouble handling the power from the 6500 amps however the 99 series DD shouldn't have a problem with prolonged power exposure.

Dont waste your time, The DD's will actually handle the power.. The SS' wont.
Any reason your not looking at 9918's ?

Because he is looking to keep the car (laser)daily drivable I believe, so will have to set the baffle back from the b-pillar to allow for the seats to fold back into position properly.
This will see the baffle back where the back seat is, equals not enough room between the base of the box and roof for 18s.
We had a similar issue with the civic, hence we just said F##k daily driving it and built to the b-pillar.

DD FTW. SS is a great brand and can get loud. But if i had the choice out of the 2 i would go the DD's without a thought

ok looks like im going DD. now i have spoken with leo and i have basically said im so over hitting 140's. my p.b. is 144.6 and thats with clarion XW 12's. i want to hit 150's so what im doing is walling the car and seeing what will happen. now i have heard of the B piller and im assuming that is where the 2 doors meet just behind the backseat? cause i measured my box size to that and its like 34inches high by 34inches deep by about 1 meter wide and thats with about 5 cms from the back of the seats. but it seems to be quiet big for a laser. now i can have a amp rack in the boot behind the wall but having problems where to mount the batteries. i have a detailed drawing in my note book and its quiet freaky

If you're walling two 9515s, 155+ is what you'll get with solid power.

Those batteries are not 16v and 16v is not really a good idea in a daily driver, I would stick with the Z1s for daily and on 12v.

16 volts will cost a lot more then 12 volts to set up.
And even more to set up in a daily driver.
