Hi all,

I would appreciate if anyone out there could help me fix this problem I came across after I've installed my Audi Phatnoise unit. For thjose of you who don;t know what it is, check out their website www.phatnoise.com

This unit it designed to replace the Audi factory 6 stacker CD in the boot. it is the same size and uses the same cable from the boot to connect to the Concert 1 head unit.

I've removed the cd changer and connected the Phatnoise unit and ...BINGO...started playing like a dream. And the quality of the thing..wow!!! Like a big kid I jumped in and took the car for a ride, music blarring full blast. Only then i've realised that I have this WHINING noise coming from the speakers which intensifies as I accelerate more!! DAMN IT'S ANNOYING. I've disconnected ithe phatnoise unit and reconnected the cd changer and the whining noise is gone.

can someone advise me what I can do to get rid of this noise?

Thanks a billion!
sean
Do a search on alternator noise or similar.
There are probably ten threads in the last week!
Here's one of them : http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/in...view=getnewpost

I think what's causing the whining noise is that I have power cables in that spot going to the back lights, blinker and brake lights etc.

I've moved the phatnoise unit away from there - actually left in on the mat in the middle of the boot - and the noise is not there anymore.

So, it only happens when is installed in its place.

Hope that helps.

I will read the other threads to see if there are any fixes.

maybe try making a enw ground for it. where does the factory earth go to, try a slightly thicker wire and mount it to solid bare metal in the boot and then just solder it in to the "factory" loom

this phatnoise Player/Hard drive vertually. they can also cause audio sound quality problems in cars. MP3 players or any sort of device you hook up thats using a file quality thats not 100% the orignal or a shrinked file will cause problems so that would be my guess. if your stacker is hooked up and you dont have any problem then soon as you hook this new player up and you have noise then its that.
