I think this should be louder than before... until the smoke comes out of the woofers.

I guess for the price of a Z2, you'd want a lot more parts.
and 1500RMS requires nowhere near the part count of 6000RMS.

now for some 4ga speaker cable, and some 2/0ga power......
nah, j/k 8ga is plenty for speakers.

I anticipate about 2000RMS at 12V/2ohm

Pulse-R, you have an SPL and SQ car?
~Sparkles~
He's greedy
C.C.S.S.
Nah no warranty stickers on the Response monos tongue.gif
Pulse-R
No stickers.
Didn't strip the screws either.

I think the 50c coin gives a good scale too

SQ, SPL - it's all the same isn't it? "Optimisation of aspects of audio acoustic reproduction in an automotive environment."

that sounds like a thesis wink.gif

and who says you can't have good imaging at 145+ dB??
Music Pirate
I think we all know why he lifted the cover....to flip it around of course!

I am looking at getting two of the 1500 mono's in the near future as well Pulse, but I believe the maximum output is only around the 1200rms range, is that correct?
Pulse-R
I'd expect to get around 2000RMS@2ohm from a strapped pair at 12V

that's still gonna pull about 400Amps out of the battery spiteful.gif
enzo
o...as of tonight.....another little toy

sure....my Pipe might not need it......but an amp in the future might

my plans require money! lol. nah. alot more cable and new boxes. only if there were more comps in vic! points are out of the question then hey.

Yes CSA got 1218Wrms on 13.8V.

Phil
Pulse-R
so 2000 strapped at 12V isn't unreasonable...
I'll fit one for now, and do some testing

Hmm yeah I thought it was around that figure...

So you are essentially getting 1200rms for $699 then unsure.gif

Just curious Phil, the DD M1a which is $779rrp that is rated at 1200rms, how much more would it be actually putting out (as we all know that the figures are slightly less then there actual figures with DD products laugh.gif ) ?

As if its RMS is a bit more then stated, it would be defiantly worth (in my eyes) the extra $80 due to the increased quality and power you get for the money smile.gif

Thanks,

Jason

The battery you have there looks like one giving to me from a old bank back systems and is only good for a max output of 35 amps of current i would check read the side of the battery a bit better.
or take a photo of the writing on the side and post it up.
Could be differndt but looks 100% the same.

it would be the one that cleutin posted with his tough amp. tongue.gif
it looks to me like an old ups power supply battery. good foor slow continuous supply but not for spl bursts.
but if he posts up a closer image we can confirm that.

I wouldn't pay that much.. hahahaha you are funny.

I put one amp in the car yesterday, and I had a listen of it.

Compared to the JL 500/1 (580RMS@2ohm/12V) - the Re/Sponse is louder, but not as nice as the JL.
Compared to the Rockford T8002 (800RMS@2ohm/12V) - the Re/Sponse is the same loudness, but sounds heaps more controlled, and smoother.

So for more money, the Rockford was grossly inefficient (180A for the R/F compared to around 95A from the R/S) and sounds terrible.

I think the extra power with 2 of the Re/Sponse will be much better.

Where did you get 180A from, the T8002 comes fitted with a 150A fuse.
Power consuption T8002:
75A@12.6v with music
150A@12.6v with sine
Power output:
Published 800w@2ohm bridged
Average actual 1394w@2ohm bridged
Pulse-R
I measured 180A on a burp @ 46Hz, 11.5V (current draw's a b*tch) on the RF

based on the volt drop, the R/S is a LOT lower than this.

and yes, the fuse on the RF has been 'hot' a few times, even before I got it.

I'm not sure if the M1 is the same as the M1a, but from a signature I get
QUOTE
M1 wins Street Commodores test with "a staggering 1072Wrms of unclipped grunt with 13.8V"

I wish there was more of a local car audio scene here on the island, AFAIK there aren't even any SPL comps, SQ shows, and the only annual car show fits into the back corner of the parking lot of the mall... sad.gif

.:EDIT:.
Now that I think about it, the M1a is the newer version of the M1 - unless I'm mistaken.

Just go down to MJ Auto Electrics (Vineyard Road) - they'll sell you 00ga (2/0ga) by the metre. They have a couple of rolls of it. $18/m. it fits fine into Jaycar, Stinger and Rockford 0ga terminals. Maybe ask them how much for a whole roll - might be a bit cheaper if you want lots.
