great midrange, ultra smooth,

massive output, shallow mount,

i could go on...

polk audio siganture reference anything = SEX

Im also very interested to hear about these speakers. I have heard them on a demo board and they were the best sounding speakers I'd heard, but I havent heard that many yet.

How would you say they were for different types of music?
ie. Rock, bassy Hip Hop/Rap, Dance, Piano, Male and Female voices, songs with lots of kickbass, etc?

Thanks

id say, that if a speaker sounds good, on one type of music, and not good on another, its not a very good speaker,

a good speaker should replicate everything to nearly real status, most styles of music are real instruments, so, a good speaker should sound good playing everything,,,

not saying these do this,

im just saying that a good speaker is hard to come by...

these play most music well

More importantly, what's the price??
Shreknos
the price is 1499 rrp,

i run mine active atm, and they just lost heaps of linearity, and alot of warmth, they lost there siganture sound..

passive is king, biamped off two preout so you can TA them too...

they are good speakers, not many around like them

charlie buddha monkey i know u are picky about drivers ,so i would like a listen to them too, cause if they have eased your audio suffering at this time then they must have a good sound...........cors
Shreknos
indeed thay do zion, they sound quite nice,

they need some work, but i like em...

you are welcome for a vist/listen/play on any given sunday mate, id love to have you round to play around a bit, im sure we could help each other alot...

Like many of the guys have suggested here; the Polk SR6500’s have exceptionally strong mid-bass but too realistically choose you’ll need to audition them for yourself as every person’s ears are different – as are their tastes. We get people here every week who are shocked by how much mid-bass they have…

BTW, their retail is $1349 and most Polk dealers will do a little less than that for CAA members.smile.gif

Yeah I saw they are bi-amp capable. But Ive never really figured out what that means, or what its advantage is. Is it only useful if you want to use 2 amps to power the 1 set of speakers?

I have a Phoniex Gold Xenon 200.4 that makes 200wrms x 4 anywhere between 1-4ohms, or bridged 400wrms x 2 anywhere between 2-8 ohms.
Which would be the better option if I was powering these speakers?

Thanks

Dave
Shreknos
200 x 4 is the go,

the midbass will sing...

the woofer is just really well made...

fudd,,,

id love for you to have a listen, and maybe even help me with a few things,

ill be competing in amateur street this year, so, it will no doubt only get better..
