ok after recent discussion with the ceo of cactus sounds. and since people say we dont have a big range on SPL products in australia i thought would make a few enquiries with them.

so i am wanting to find out if, their products were available to us in australia would SPL'rs be interested in purchasing their products.

Yes then do good gear, as for cheater sounds i think thats a bit hard.

there amps look good, they are meant to be louder then a z1. as for the cheating thing get over it. I could be interested in the amps

I personally sould love to see their products available in australia. The more products the more competitive the market becomes and with that hopefully bigger numbers!

havent found out the prices for the amps subs and batteries yet but will keep everyone informed

if anyone is interested, i have spoken to christoph at cactus sounds and have distribution pricing which would enable me to bring the product in for you. this is not a commercial plug as i do not carry the line, just an offer if anyone is interested. but bare in mind that most of the cactus gear is quite expensive compared to Treo and DD.

I have attached the Euro retail. Probably double that and it would be landed at your door.

+1 also intrigued as to why everyone is accusing there products of aiding in cheating

cactus competed a year ago in the finals with battcaps hidden in his amps.
when they were found, he removed them and continued to compete.

he was penalised for the next season with banning from some comps - making it harder for him to get to the finals again.

he managed prior to the incident to hold the record in his class and continues to push barriers.
he may have cheated but was never officially disqualified as a cheat. there is truckloads about this on termpro.com . if you want - you could say that he was pushing the fine line to get the results.

no matter what - there will be fans and ther will be people who label him a cheat. you win some you lose some. his competitors struggle to get near him.

perhaps it is envy that causes his cheat label to stick.

I herad it was 2volt lithemiron batterys (you know watt i mean) and he had a few in there to bosst the voltage at the rail in the amp.

Thing was it was not like someone found them he was passed as ok by the judges and then was telling everyone watt he did to bosst the voltage up (watt he thought was a good idea) and someone went and told a judge watt he had done and the said no you could not do this.
If he kept his month shut no one would of know watt was in there not realy a cheat to me.

He then took them out and still won.

thats $2609.72 aud per 10" sub (paper cone say the least) but still they are suppose to be good

people buy DD for results. Likewise, Look at Christophs stat page it speaks for itself. But ther is no doubt about it - it is expensive stuff.

I've got no issues with Cristophs passion for the sport, nor to see it in brighter lights .. Who doesnt want to see the numbers get higher and the comps get bigger and better.. BUT; When it comes to blatantly ignoring rules like battery limits, then playing the 'me no speak englaish' card .. Its just plain wrong.

To me, It wouldnt matter who was cheating - To only penalize Cactus Sounds 100 points for the 2006 season and not do something with a real effect is a joke.

Yes I would like to see this product in Oz, it would be good to have another SPL orientated product, but I think who ever imports it would need to build/sponsor a car in order to actually show people here that the gear is the goods, in particular the amps.

As despite it's success in Europe people like see/touch and feel such products for themselves.

price compared to a success proven dd is probably not worth it. DD is the best positioned on the market by far.

No its not envy, its straight out cheating. Unless you're telling me it would have been OK for me to fit as many batteries as I could have into that Crown 6000 I had, and said "but its to boost rail voltage". I reakon I could have fitted the equivalent of a 2nd Odyssey 2150 inside that amp.. Wait, no, that would have been cheating 'cos it says no internal power sources for amps in the rules.. and thats why the Drag Queen was banned in dB Drag.

Not to forget the 8mm MDF "OEM equivalent" roof lining and door skins he had. Or his "sound deadener" that was Kittie Hair FG matt in FG resin. Plenty of rule pushing & breaking from Cheater Sounds. There's a reason he was banned from dB Drags last season.

Finally.. there's better amps than his coming into the country, a little birdie told me . As for the subs, plenty of equivalents here that are well supported by the importer.. DD and Treo spring to mind.

ok guys back on the topic really hey. but from the sounds of it if people are going to complain about a team cheating that doesnt mean the companies product sucks.

I don't think SPL is big enough in aus at the moment for it to be viable to bring the gear in...
Its more expensive than the top range from other well known companies, and there aren't that many people using them...

They probably are good products, but overpriced and with too much controversy behind the name...
