Full Version: Jaycar 6.5" Mid Bass vs Splits

I'm just wondering what you guys think of these 6.5" Mid Bass Drivers?

I'm not right into Sounds so I'm fitting a rather budget system into my s15 consisting of:

Pioneer DEH-P6950 Head Unit
Jaycar 6.5 Kevlar FRONT Splits
Cadence 12" Sub
4 x 75W RMS Amp

Now I'm just wondering for the rear: Would fitting these 6.5" drivers in the rear be good for mid-bass? I've got the older 6.5" Kevlars in my other car and they don't produce that much mid-bass.

The car its going in is a s15 Silvia, which is basically a 2 seater, so the 6.5 drivers would go in the rear parcel shelf.

Or should i just get another set of splits for the rear?

What driver is better? I see the splits take 60W and the 6.5 driver 75W.

Also I was going to run the Amp for the front splits and 1 sub, but now might run all 4 speakers off the amp and get another amp for the sub. (i use to run 2 x 12" in the other car with the amp)

members here have had success with replacing the mid that comes in the kevlar splits, with that mid, and using the mid from the splits in the rear.

have a search around jaycar speakers, they've been discussed at length before smile.gif

they are quite sturdy with a longer throw and largee voice coil/motor structure than in the splits. i have a set. they are not yet installed. i considered running a semi active way using the splits and the midbass. but have decided to stick with 2way. K.I.S.S.

i am yet to listen to the jaycar splits in a proper installation. so i am still undecided on what they lack. (detail in the highs or lows, midbass? too harsh? blurry midbass? who knows)

for the price you pay for the splits then the better midbass driver you could get a FAR superior set of splits IMO. And yey I own the jaycar splits and have heard them with a better midbass driver but i still found them to be un natural due to the crossover and tweeter.
