Hi Guys...

I'm in the planning stages of designing a system for my GF's Aristo. We've decided to SQ base this install rather then loudness... She's coming to the interesting side wink.gif...

I've decided on using a 3-way active headunit, probably an eclipse CD8455, splits up front and a 12inch sub in the back.

We don't have a huge budget to work with on this one, so am trying to keep it simple.

We'll most likely be using Eclipse amplifiers mainly due to the fact I liked thier sound and I already have a DA6213 (1000WRMS@4ohms) (http://www.eclipse-web.com.au/amp/da6213.html). I'll be looking for a PA5422 (4x85WRMS@4ohms) (http://www.eclipse-web.com.au/amp/pa5422.html).

I was thinking along the lines of some vifa XT25TG30-04 (http://www.tymphany.com/datasheet/printview.php?id=112) for the tweeter and possibly some Peerless 830883 (http://www.tymphany.com/datasheet/printview.php?id=3) for mids.

Tweeters will most lilely be in the pillars or sails (std tweeters here) and mids in SD'd door cavities. I'm not sure whether I'll go for build out or modified stock locations just yet as we haven't got the car yet (on it's way over from Jahpan).

For Subs I was thinking gonig along the same lines, the Peerless 830844(http://www.tymphany.com/datasheet/printview.php?id=31) 12inch driver. I'm not certain where this would be mounted yet, I'm prettt certain with have a fuel tank behind teh seat to contend with, ala 30-series soarer. I'm open to suggestions on mounting this also. I was thinking, either in the spare tyre well, or to one side.

Advice would be appreciated and I'm open to driver selections, but keeping within a budget or around $800 ish I guess for all drivers.

Thanks in advance smile.gif

Speaker selections seem reasonable?

I was kind of hoping someone out there might be able to offer some alternatives to the listed above in roughly the same price range, that could be possibly better suited.

I haven't seen many topics on here listing speakers for active set-ups that aren't a mixture of existing speakers that people own...

the advantage of active, is you can choose what speakers you want for each part, and adapt the system to suit.

if we were all gun-crossover makers, then we wouldn't need active - all would be multi-amped passive. (mmmmm... lots of splitters)

those choices seem ok, but I can really only comment on the XXLS woofer (nice) and the xt25's (also nice). I have heard that the peerless midbass can lack midbass 'fullness' but I'm sure they're fine.

you may not fit the xt25's in the sails, as they are really quite large. I had mine in the kicks last year, and it still wasn't quite right. I have some Morel MT23's (not much dearer than the XT25's) which are only a little larger than normal tweeters, and really do sound nice.

Thanks for the reponse Pulse-R. I was a little concerned re the sizing of the XT's, I've mounted D19's in my mini previously, and found they were hard enough smile.gif

I hadn't thought about MT23's...

I had the Peerless phse lug 467 mids in the doors of a JZ80 and noticed a bit of a lull in midbass from them, without much of an EQ we had to live with it though. Could you perhaps point me in the direction of another keenly priced mid that might be more suitable?

I wouldn't mind getting another set of the arvus tweeters, but from all reports Matthew has been very caught up of late and this might pose a bit tricky.
Pulse-R
I quickly ran away from low-priced mids, although the dyn MW162's weren't really as dear as I expected. bit out of your budget though. nice midbass.
Gonadman2
Not necessarily, Dyn MW162's are only $449pr less your CAA discount (which is how much?) and you've still got $350+ for some nice tweets. Morel Piccolo's might be worth looking at?

I'd love to find a set of dyn's within my budget. A little while back I think someone had the mids for sale, I'll keep an eye out.

Gonadman2 Unfortunately the budget was for All speakers including the sub... So it's not gongi to be able to stretch to a set of $450 mids new.

I'm willing to use good quality used gear though, as most people that buy this sort of equipment treat it well.
Pulse-R
MW-162 $400pr
MT-23 $200pr
XXLS-12" $280
total $880
so only just over budget... not too bad, if you can get the dyn's cheap will be well-under.
