What do you guys and gals think is the best value for money, best looking, best quality, most powerful, etc. monoblock amp for under $1000? If you cant think of any that fit all the criteria, say ones you know that fit one or a few criterias.
Im chasing a monoblock amp but i just cant decide.....I just want to hear what everyone thinks is the best amp for under $1000.
Cheers,

DDM1a should provide ~ 600wrms @ 4ohm, and is RRP $779.
you can get more power for your money than that, but if you're after quality on the side, then the M1a would probably be the way to go.
the Audison LRx1.1 is another option, but is only "rated"

at 420wrms @ 4ohm (RRP $889).
doubt you'd be disappointed with either

check out the fs section for some top shelf mono's such as audison VRx's which always pop up. Very solid amp's and very powerful. I use one and can't fault it. Others to keep an eye out for are tru tech hammers, zapco 1100m's etc

i got shown a blaupunkt 2200wrms @ 2ohm for $999 , compare that pdx which retail for 1099 and have 1000 - 1200 wrms depending on testing

Not to slander DD (i love them!) but I would personally not run a dd amp with a beautiful sub like the ML3000; i would rather opt for the Audison or another 'sq' orientated brand which will complement your Mile sub very nicely

...however, the new DD amps are apparently very good quality, but I doubt it could compare to the likes of a SQ focused amp

im not a fan of alot of DD's gear but the m1 i ran was a very nice amp. solid, sounded good, just lacked balls (kinda odd for a DD product LOL)

If you can go 2ohm, go for a Boston GT28. Beautiful SQ amp.

mrd 605 amp from alpine is going really cheap now i think around $600, it puts out 600rms and looks good...i can recommend it as i have owned it for a year and it powers my sub nicely, hasnt shut down and or clipped yet even when ive pushed my sub to the limit....however im not sure if this is a pure sq amp

$600 was the rrp. I got mine for about $450 from stylyn 6 months ago. And now theyre discontinued they should be even cheaper if you can get one. 4ohms: 400wRMS, 2 ohms: 600wRMS

You can actually get the MRD M1005 for $899 RRP these days (Less if you bargain hard

) That would have to be right up there with the best of them, excellent build quality a solid chunk of power for the money and some of the best processing available in a mass produced amp.
The DD M1a would be another solid amp for under $1k that is something I would definitely consider too.

I'm pretty sure you'd be able to pick up an Alpine PDX for roughly $1000 or under, 1000rms @ 4 or 2ohm. Though apparantly they arent as well built, or perform SQ wise compared to other amps. Personally I love my PDX's, they are so simple to install and look flashy even in a boring or simple install. That said, if you are only having a single one, and your other amps are Audison, I'd probably lean towards picking up another Audison to match the ones already there (if it was within budget)
Edit - What about the DD M2, retails at $1100, but with CAA discount or bargaining surely it could be had for under that? 1700rms @ 1ohm (I imagine?)

actually, if you're willing to go 2nd hand, you should be able to track down a Soundstream Rubicon 1002 for that kind of money.
1000wrms @ 4ohm and 2ohm.
i run one currently, and have another to install. beautiful amps

I don't really think that there is much of an audible difference between sub amps, you can't say one is a SQ amp and another SPL. I would be super impressed if you got 2 monoblocks from different brands, punching out the same power, and you could hear the difference between them. Go buy as many watts as you can afford.

So the Alpine MRD-M1005 mono is a fairly good amp for the price? Would it be good for SQ comps?.....Just remember its only guna be running my Mille ML3000.....for the moment......

sub bass only counts for 10 points in an SQ comp
any amp will only give you +/- 1-2 points at best

Unfortunately you don't get many "SQ" amps for under $1000.
Besides, I'd challenge you to pick the difference in sound from a $1000 to a $2000 equally powerful amp running a woofer.

I doubt i could tell the difference, however he is building a car to target at SQ comps rather then SPL, power isn't of much concern in most cases...

What I'm saying is that a clean, nice sounding $800, 1000W amp is probably a better option for most people than a really nice sounding $3000 amp..........

How are the Hifonics Monoblocks? Im looking at the Hifonics Brutus BXi-1606D in particular......Is it a good enought amp to run my Mille? Then ill run a single SRx2S for the front speakers and run the rears of my headunit.
Sound like a good setup?
Here is the weblink to the spec sheet for the brutus and other amps......

Just thought I'd throw Earthquake into the mix. Check out the PH 2000D 1.1 . Similar stats to the DDM1, a schmidge less power.
If I was buying again I'd go for whichever of those two I could get cheaper.
