Ok so I've been considering a change of sub, I'm currently using an IDQ 15 V1, which is a great sub. But in the box size I have it in 1.5cubes net it really struggles to get low. So I've been considering going to a 12" as I really don't won't to make a new box, with a 12" I can just modify the front baffle a bit. So keeping SQ in mind as I'm hoping to continue getting some good finishes in CAASQ QLD this yr, I've been looking at the Peerless XXLS but of course output is kinda important aswell so I've attached some WINISD plots to get some opinions on. I'm leaning towards the 12" 8+8ohm DVC the red line as it really looks the best overall to me. What do you guys think?

I like the yellow one best, but the green could be usable.

although you should model it in a bandpass box 4th order, with 1.2cu.ft sealed section and a 1.5cu.ft ported section tuned to 35Hz.

The yellow is my current IDQ 15 V1, but to me it just doesn't go low enough, it's tight and punchy, but it just doesn't have that low end rumble I'd like. Which is why I was looking for something with a later and gentler roll off. Previously I was using a 12" Type R and it was capable of a lot more down low. I could get the same with the IDQ but I'd need a bigger box which I don't want to do as it would mean redoing my whole boot basically.

which XXLS are you looking at - there are two types - one is much better for low end, the other is better for free-air/IB type use...

I was going to look at the site, but it's down at the moment.

Here's a tip, fire those picks up in paint and save them as .gif, they go from 1.5 meg down to ~50kb.

model 830952 is the new XXLS 12" - very nice!

Ok I changed the file to .gif so thats alot easier to look at now. I was looking at the 830847 DVC 8+8ohm, but that 830952 does look very good, I've attached a file of it's plot it's in blue, the 830847 in red, and my current IDQ in yellow.

much nice.
with 26mm of linear Xmax, it'll be nice with loud too.

Hmm....good on both accounts, I'm not after bone crushing SPL just something I can crank up and have a bit of fun with when I want, so similar to the IDQ output which should be easy to match with this 12" since the IDQ only has like 10-12mm xmax.

It's not mentioned there, but the long-term (100hours continuous) rated power is 350WRMS.

all the XXLS are apparently the same power rating.

I have a pair of the 830846 (10" SVC 4ohm) waiting to go in the SPL car (when the old Pioneers finally give up).
