Full Version: System Tuning

I am running DDW6.5 woofers and DDT1 tweets semi active up front.

Running the tweeters off an RF200.4 bridged for 100wrms x 2 @4ohms.
Problem is, i have the gain turned right down on the tweeter amp and they are still very loud and overpowering.
-Should i switch the tweeters wiring to run off just 2 of the RF amps channels so they get 50wrms each unbridged instead? Would this allow me to fine tune my tweeter level better?
-Have also heard thet they might sound better unbridged anyway, is this true?
-Also whats the best way to get a mor even sound between the front woofers/mids and the tweeters when running active?

Also i am wanting to get my whole system proffessionally tuned including my sub box port length (if it requires a change for better SQ). And my EQ set etc etc.
-Does northfield mooroka provide this service?
-Any one know of any other reputable shops in brisbane that can fine tune a system well?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unbridge the amp for sure. Tweeters don't need that kinda power.

agreed those dd tweets are very efficient, no way they would need that much juice. Also by unbridging the amp you will ~ half the distortion and double the dampening factor (wether its an audible difference or not is a differnet issue lol)

damping doesnt affect tweeters anyway, only the distortion matter,

it will be easier on your amp, and your electrical system...

yer its alot. doesnt stop mad89 from feeding 160wrms into each of his. tho they started to crackle after a bout a week. i think he popped em.

Bring your car along to our BBQ this Saturday and I or Drew will happily listen to and offer some suggestions, and if your lucky, we may even pull out the screwdrivers.

That's the slew rate wink.gif
~thematt~
^^^ Even then its inaudible. Even crappy transistors these days have the ability to slew fast enough to produce a linear output.
