Hi All, long time reader, first time poster.

Today i was installing dynamat into my car. I have completed my boot and two front doors. Whilst i was completing my passenger side door, i thought i'd turn the stereo on to see what it sounds like... I cranked it up and it sounded fantastic. After about 3 minutes, the speakers went dead.. which indicated to me that my speakers amp maybe overheated. So i turned the volume down and jumped in the drivers seat to move my car into the shade. Turned the car on and heard a really loud banging noise through the speakers... I can still hear music, and my sub still pumps hard but the speakers are overwhelmed by a very very loud buzzing noise.. like my RCA's are crossing over a power cable.

The system has never done that before, all i have done is put dynamat in my boot and on my doors. Could my amp have blown? Or would it be more related to the deck..?

When i turn my Ignition off and only have the stereo going, i get a sligh hissing noise through the speakers, but the loud abnoxious buzzing noise dissapears. Any ideas would be hugely appreciated.

So everything is completely normal?

Seriously though, could you have bumped the ground and is the deck a pioneer?

Well not normal, no. Music still plays, but the buzzing noise is louder than the music unless it's cranked really high. Only does it when the ignition is on or the car is running.

Yeah the deck is Pioneer plus I havent gone anywhere near the amps or the ground wires in the process of installing the dynamat

so when u deadened the boot u didnt go near the amps?

maybe while in teh doors u broke a wire on the speaker? perhaps it shorted and fried amp? it sounds like blown earth track in pioneer. or perhaps dodgey RCA/earths.

If the amp was fried, would it still operate? Cause it still works, it just has that loud buzzing noise. I just remember that earlier today, i did short out a speaker wire on the door by accident and forgot the stereo was turned on with the volume control turned down..

speakerwire short?.I had a issue with pops and it was the unprotected crossover terminals touching metal .check them check wires as cheaper speakerwires can get crappy where they bend in the door to car body area............cors

I'm starting to think that i've blown my amp.. or fried something in it anyway

after having a listen to it this afternoon, i dont think is the amp.

some more information for you guys.

the volume from the speakers has not been affected at all, they still pump just as loud as before.
when the key is turned to acc there is a slight hissing noise in the back ground, but it is easily covered by the music when its turned up a little bit.

turn the key to on and it is much worse, imagine a ringing in your ears and thats what comes from the speakers. turn the engine over and the ringing gets even louder. at all times tho, the volume and quality of the sound from the speakers are not affected.

check all possible grounds

I have checked all ground wires, and all speaker wires.. They all seem ok to me...

1 Thing i have thought of and this may seem like a silly questions, but do Amps have built in attenuators in them?
