Hi All,

I want to set up a carputer in my car, but carputer is totally new concept to me. I have read some posts on carputer but still havent got clear idea.

I have few questions

1. i saw this offer on website

http://www.mini-itx.com/store/?c=11#vk3677, (1Ghz EPIA M/3677 Vehicle Bundle - Powerable from Mains and 12V Supply)

is this reasonable price, or i could get it cheaper?

if i get this bundle package, and add a touch screen, can they work straight away or i need something else?

2. How do i wire this car pc thing? ( is it the same with wiring head unit?)

3. If this thing does work, do i still need head unit?

4. Atm i have sound system running in my car, how do wire my amp? is there any F,R,Sub output from this pc? and how do i connect the remote cable on my amps?

5. Hows the sound quality on car pc? i also compete on SQ comp, so if i cant get same sort of quality from car pc compare to head unit, i will not do it.

thanks for your help..

cheers

such an old post and still nobody has replied.. ohmy.gif well im guessing you have found all the answers by now... but here i go anyway.

1. wudnt know about pricing personally
2. wiring is partly the same... u need a constant power source and a switched powersource and very good ground.
3. if it works well, you shouldnt need a seperate headunit, although some people still do.. depends on the system and ur personal preferance
4+5: well if u want hi sound quality you should have a look at an external soundcard that runs from the computers firewire or usb ports. there a studio quality ones available just make sure you get one designed for playback rather then recording.

the price is like all computers if your computer iliterate then yeah thats as good as you'll get it... but if you are willing to not get a pre-fabed system, then you can probly do one for alot less...

like i'm looking at something Dual core 3.0, DX10, HDDs 1TB+, 2GB DDR2 RAM, ect... its as good as you'll get and caz im not geting some one to put it to gether for me it'll cost like $2,000... you cant get something that is that good from dell or what ever the Pre-Fab carputer ppl... unless you want/need em small... and dont want the fuss...

unsure.gif Nearly one month ago,, hopefully you have already installed it in your car pc. I think the price is ok for this type of computer.
About the installation, it depends on which space you want to put the machine, if you need to put in the back side of the car, then the wire will be need a long connection along the side of the seat and then connect to the dash board. If you just put it uder your seat, the line track might be easier. The connection is different according to different car pcs. Some advanced car pc which have the same connection with the auto DVD or Radio, this makes the installation very simple. What you need to do is just connect the right wire to the right port. But usually this kind of machine might be very expensive.
Also why didn't you choose a Double Din Size carputer, I think it is more convinient and welcomed including the fantastic appearence, high developed solutions and more functions. Try to visit this web, it is our company's Double Din size computer. Maybe you will be interested in that.
