As i understand it, due to commitments the SPL guys have on the day, this will ONLY be a SQ event.

Would it be possible for someone to bring down a Termlab/Laptop/Software so that those who wish, can have a run on the TL? I know there are quite a few locals who were hoping to go SPL, simply to see what numbers they pull on a 'real' meter...There could be a fee per TL run too, with funds being donated to MEA?

Ideas/Suggestions?

In any case, hope to see many of you down there!
ROCKLOCK
Thank you most sincerely, Adam, for putting all this together. I've had some computer issues and been fairly flat stick at work so haven't had opportunity. I do wish that the SPL could be incorporated, but can understand when things come up. Means some detuning of the sub, but I'm still very excited. Looking most forward to meeting all who can attend, and listening to some quality setups!!
Marc
The last I heard this IS a sanctioned dB Drag racing event. Rob?
DB JAY
Angelo can't make it.

so i am trying to put something together, sanctioned or unsanctioned we don't know as yet.

keep looking in the spl forum
Marc
Do I not get told anything? smile.gif

Anyway ... Rain, Hale, SPL or no SPL, CAASQ is going ahead. smile.gif
Dogo
If its anything like it was a few weeks ago - the shops/restaurants suck on Sunday.
~Spyne~
yes, ballarat really is a country town on sundays....

maccas (and other fast food places) are still open down the road though

~Sparkles~

Once again any one staying in twon over night?
shiny_car
i'll be travelling there from melbourne, so might see you in the convoy. will then travel straight back to geelong.

i might enter my car with the 'totally stock' system, for a giggle. tongue.gif

Sierra

HIDCBL

Damo95
we'll most likely be cruising down on the sunday..

Alan.. you should cruise down with us..
Marc
There seemed to be a lot of discussion yesterday at Adam's funeral for staying on the Saturday night.... is there many interested in this?
shiny_car
i can't be there till the sunday, so i won't be staying overnight saturday.

If i do decide to make the trip up, can i still compete even though i missed round1?
~Spyne~
of course you can, a person can compete at any stage throughout the season.

Yes.. you can.. i didnt compete at round 1, and starting my season at round 2..

ok guys.. there'll be a 3 stage convoy happening..

from eastside (sierra, domza, phatt boys, etc)

to northside (me, adam's car)

to westside (marc, simon, etc)

to ballarat..

what times do we need for travelling?
shiny_car
probably need some specific meet-up points to determine timing. are the 'eastside boys' prepared to make 2 stopovers to meet up with the others?

smile.gif
fury
Damo, do you have further details of meeting points?

I know there are a few new guys who would like to come up and would prefer to cruise with us then by themselves, but if they're not "in the know" they wont get the details.

Cheers smile.gif

What would be the travel time from Melb to Ballarat .... aprox 90Mins? .... Spyne?

Damo .... what time would you be looking at the convoy arriving?
Damo95
thats what im trying to work out.. how long between stages and go from there..

i know sunbury is bout 30mins tops from me..

and i heard its about an hour to ballarat from there..
so, i'd probably say we'd have to meet at thomastown bout 7-7:30? yikes... long day alert.. i'll have 4 cars guaranteed with me..

[edit 2]
I think Simon and i are going to be organising a meet point at MELTON which is probably easier for everyone..

once confirmed, either of us will post up..
[/edit]
Cuz
Me, Andrea and Jess will be heading down Saturday arvo - after 2. We are staying Saturday night....
~Spyne~
from sunbury, best to then go to melton and get on the fwy to go straight through to b'rat

melton > b'rat is ~45-50mins
a straight run from melb > b'rat is ~1.5hrs
~Sparkles~
Justin you booked accomodation yet?
zion187reigneth
yep about 1hr 20min from melbourne............cors
Damo95
hmm... i sense a damn early morning for a LOT of people.. sad.gif
Pulse-R
actually, as the crow flies, Bacchus marsh is better (and quicker) than Melton.

Will discuss with Damo tomorrow (monday) and confirm here ASAP.
HIDCBL
Can anyone confirm that there will be a TL there for us SPL boys to test and tune our stuff on?
Iceman_jkh
Hopefully I can get some sleep in the car on the way up!

Can't wait - getting closer all the time!
~Sparkles~
Jay did you get hold of a genny? If not I'll get my hand on one - even if it means buying one (though I should be able to get my hands on one from one of my site boys).

yeah got one.

all is good
DB JAY
OK guys as well as having the usual SQ event this week end we will also be having an SPL test and tune day. (sorry can't use the words dB Drag Racing)

as discussed with Marc we will be charging $10 for unlimited runs all day on term-lab. Grat chance for newbies to get in and have a go as we will have a few of the regular boys there giving out advise and tips thru out the day.The $10 will be donated in some form of way to our late friend Adam Smith. (Marc to advise)

For the SQ boys Marc will be giving out an award for the loudest SQ set up for SPL and EGEAR will kindly be giving away an SPL meter as an encouragement award.

For a first timer their is nothing to be embrassed about in giving it a go this week end and for the regular compeditiors heres a chance to see if you can find that extra decibel or two!!! (see i didn't use dB tongue.gif )_

we will be kicking off at around 9:30am and it would be great to see some new faces and don't be shy to ask questions or even to introduce yourself.
Also i would like to thank the PHATT boys for lending me their term-lab and laptop for the day.

CHEERS

hope to see you all there

After talking with Damo this morning, the following has been decided (plenty of choices)

Meet 1:
Meet at: Repco Thomastown (its on the corner of settlement & dalton roads, thomastown)
directions:
You'd most likely be coming along the ring road, city-bound, so take the DALTON ROAD turnoff.
Once at the lights, turn left onto dalton road.
Go straight thru the huge roundabout, and take the next driveway on your left (you'll see the repco) and park in front of repco.
Meet at 6:30 to 6:45 for 7am sharp departure.

Meet 2:
Meet at Melton Maccas (Melway 114 H10) This is right (north) off the Western Freeway at the Coburns Road exit.
7:15-7:30 meet
departing 7:45am sharp.

from here we go to Ballarat. About 45 minutes to 1 hour drive.

we figured it was easier than trying to convoy all the way down through the back roads. Also allows a bit for east-siders if they don't want to go as far north as Thomastown.
HIDCBL
Oh sweet. I'll definately be there!

Reckon its worth me getting/bringing a car charger since i'm planning on testing my system all day long?

Anything else i should bring? Tools etc?

I'll bring my tool kit anyway, just incase...
DB JAY
just to let you guys know that as it will be held at a park their is no power provided!!!
~Sparkles~
bring a jumper pack or atleast some jumper leads then if worst comes to worst someone can jump start you
Damo95
looking good simon..

i'll pass on those details to those who want to cruise with me, and the rest of us.. should be a good, but long day.. smile.gif
Dogo
Im going up on Sat arvo.

Am taking 2omorrow off to finish the boot.

Not sure if I'll do well but Im more interested in Judge feedback !

I will be bringing a tackle box with fusing (AGU / AFC / ANL) and whatever else I can think of in the leadup to ensure something silly doesn't dampen anyones day...anybody got other requests?
~Sparkles~
I'd like a 1.75" thick eye fillet steak cooked medium rare served on a patte of bubble and squeak with pan jus laid over the top and a nice dark beer to go with it.
