Hey guys, just wondering if there were any Sydney based competitors that felt like meeting up in the morning of the comp somewhere on the way, and driving down together; convoy styles. I figured it beats driving down by myself, so if anyone is interested or likes the idea, drop me a PM or just reply here.
mad89
sounds like a good idea. it would be good if youse could get down here as early as possible, as i think we plan to 'take over' the main carpark, hence we need to get as many cars there as possible to park 1 car over 2 spaces sorta thing...

i dunno. chat to poisoner or SH00KU about it...

the more the better, and as early as possible IF possible...

Sounds like a good idea, pick me up at campbelltown if your coming that way
MRVJ

HBD
VeeJay there wasn't even an edit there, you just posted to tell us you WERENT interested? lol

gonebust I've never driven to the Gong before but I imagine that I'd have to go past/through Campbeltown so once I work out my route I'll drop you a PM so I can grab your mobile number etc.

how bout at heathcote maccas, quick bite of breakfast and straight down the highway
HBD
Why what Jonno?
Wh33lzz
Im keen to hook up and do the convoy thing, but wont be going past Heathcote macca's tho, Its M4>M7>Hume HWY for me.
Is there anywhere along that route that suits as a meeting place?

Im heading down EARLY, like leaving at 6 am early. What were you thinking Blake, time wise?
HBD
I'm easy mate, is there one stretch of road that everyone can use in order to get there? I think it'll be fun to meet up, have a chat and stuff and then head down. A maccas or the like is perfect, its merely a matter of finding the right one.
HBD
This is a rather jumbled copy and paste from whereis.com explaining how I'm getting there. Is there anywhere in that jumble of roads/streets that suits anyone else to meet?

I'm guessing there will be two main corridores of travel depending on where you live. The westerners will meet somewhere, travel down the Hume highway and across after hanging a left at Picton. The Easterners will be meeting at Heathcote Maccas and then travel down the F6.

I've posted an official thread now dudes and dudettes!

I'd be happy to do the convoy thing... I have no idea of how to get to the Gong or around it, so definately sounds the goods to me smile.gif

I'm out liverpool way (Casula) and so hume hwy liverpool is a nice close point for me (there is a maccas there also).

Heathcote macca's would be the one off princess hwy, about 5 mins from your old place wouldn't it Marty? If so I'm familliar with it and would be happy to meet up there smile.gif

Marty, it's probably quicker to exit at Campbelltown and head via Appin way down rather than go to Picton and to the gong. Just a thought.

Its only about 30 minutes down the princes highway from heathcote. Nice and easy
mad89
^^ what he said.

from heathcote maccas, u just follow the highway for about 30mins and ur in wollongong.

smile.gif
HBD
Is Heathcote McDonalds ON Heathcote road?
mad89
nope. heathcote maccas is at the intersection of heathcote road and princes hwy/railway parade (i think it called)

smile.gif
muzzy66
I think I know the macccas.. sounds like the same one we all met up for when we did the cruise down to SHOOKUs other sound off about a year or so back.

It's pretty easy to get to and memory seems to be telling me there is also a servo near by.. although i may be mistaken.

If so, perfect smile.gif

on bourke street there is a set of lights with the "novatel" on the corner big ass hotel you wont miss it. turn left here.....

about 200m there is a roundabout take a right here(its either right or left there is no straight) anotehr 100M and take a left and ur on the strip of carparks/road where the event will be held.
HBD
So what do people think of meeting at Heathcote McDonalds on Sunday morning?
muzzy66

Sorry I thought everyone knew about the long running joke regarding the different shires’ cliques. (The joke was started years ago by CDUCTV (for those who remember him) and at the time it was a bit of a running comedy).

Never mind, nothing to see here. Move along people... wink.gif

Weirdos nea.gif

Anyhooo's, the bad news is in - yet again the dark cloud of uni has struck.

The competition is (from recollection) on Sunday 27th of May.

I have two major assignments due on the following Thursday (31st May), and one on the Friday (1st of June). That's three major assignments due in the space of two days... each one is worth enough to potentially have a major impact on my overall result and each may well be the difference between a pass and a fail in the subjects.

Uni (carrer) remains my number 1 priority followed by work (income) - both of which take clear priority above hobbies (audio).

That all means that unless I can get at least 2/3 of those assignments completed before the competition I will likely have no choice but to give it a miss. To make matters worse, my last final exam falls around the 26th/27th of June which is scarilly close to the scheduled date for round 4.

My uni timetable has really NOT been nice to me this year sad.gif

true that. but i dont think he cares... rofl.gif
HBD
So am I led to believe that there is not ONE competitor from Western Sydney attending the Gong that would want to meet up on the way?
muzzy66
I'd be happy to, if i'm able to make it.

I WILL do all I can to ty to make it, i just can't make any guarantees.
Fhrx
Well stop typing stuff here and get those assignments done! biggrin.gif
HBD
No one loves me, everybody hates me, think I'll go and eat worms ...

HBD

Wh33lzz
Sorry Blake im a bit TOO western Sydney for ya mate, else I'd meet up for a MC sh1t brekkie and cruise down..
HBD
How far west are you mate?
Wh33lzz
Leaving from Penrith take me twice as long to head up to Heathcote maccas, Unless you wanna meet at Picton Rd/ Princes HWY turn off??
muzzy66
Update: Cars sounding good - sounding great in fact. Sub-bass could use a little tuning work but it's acceptable for the time being.

Can say the car is definitely good enough to compete with, so now it just comes down to getting these assignments done.

I will sincerely do all that i can, because I feel CAASQ really does a lot for the audio community, and I really like to put back in as much as i can by supporting it in any way possible.

Lets see how it goes...
Fhrx
Even if you can just come down to have the car judged?

On another note; has anyone heard whether Antony has got someone to bring his car down for him for this event?
HBD
Antonys car will be there, unfortunately I dont think I will. Looks like the car will be in the panel beater after my accident this week sad.gif
mad89
as Blakey said, Antony's car will be down, but only for a short period of time, just to be judged then its leaving...

Deftone is out too i think sad.gif
MRVJ
with all these cars not being there.....

nevermind
Deftone2k
