Well what can I say? Despite the weather, today was awesome.
Firstly a huge thanks to all those (friends and family especially) who came to pay their respects to Adam.
There may have been a few teary eyes, and the sky certainly shed a tear on us, but spirits were high and all had a good time!
Thanks to Marc, the judges (and honarary judges, Rich and Simon), sponsers, Mick @ Rock Lock, and everyone else who made this event possible.
Was great to hear some very nice systems, and the nail biting results were very impressive. Competition was so tight, many results were taken to a count back. Congrats to all the winners!
And a pat on the back to Jay for his microphone prowess. Never a dull moment with his bickering behind a mic.

Cheers

We'll I just walked in the door.
What a weekend! started off not on a great foot for me not getting to ballarat untill after 9pm when I'd planned to get there around 4pm however....
After this mornings minor hiccups getting the PA going (I've just signed ordered some Speakon connectors so it wont happen again) I had a ball. Unfortunately due to the weather and the shear number of cars to judge I didnt get a lot of "social" time - sorry guys.
I would like to say a big thankyou to all the local boys who turned up for the event in both SPL and SQ it was good to see!
And a HUGE thankyou to Adams family for making the trek up. I've got to admit it really made the whole ordeal finally really hit home for me and it was quite emotional to have the priviledge of judging Adams toy. Once again thankyou!
And of course congratulations to all the winners! - well actually to all competitors the level of the competition seems to be getting higher each competition. I've never judge Am-Street class before and I've got to admit its a very closely contested class!

was a great day, but friggen' cold most of the time! ballarat didn't disappoint with its 'ballarat weather'!

nice to catch up with people again. i'm missing the competition side of things - well, with a 'proper' system installed. had a bit of fun entering my car with its completely stock system.
being an impromtu judge today allowed me to sample a heap of great systems today. some very impressive stereos, and all were at least very good.
big thanks to mick, the host, from Rock Lock. it must be a challenge to be the main organiser of such an event. and of course, many thanks to marc and the rest of the crew for putting on another top event. the turn-out of car and competitors was impressive.
and of course, it was a day to honour adam, and a proud day for his family. his car and stereo never fails to impress. it meant a lot to everyone to have 'ADZ.1' participate.
congrats to all competitors and winners.

Another great event .... even though it was cold and there was a bit of drizzle it certainly wasn't enough to dampen anybody's enthusiasm.
Big thank you to Mick from Rock, Lock & Roll for hosting the event and supplying the sandwiches for lunch, and to all the judges, helpers and sponsors without whom these events would not be possible.
Also a special thanks to Adam's family and friends for comming up to the event, I had a chance to check out Adam's car for the first time .... very impressive indeed.
Was good to catch up with everyone again and get to meet some of the Ballarat locals and also have a listen to some damn good audio systems.

And to mirror what's been said numerous times, I really most humbly appreciate everyone making the trek to Ballarat (or just to VicPark for any locals) and standing in the rain and cold - it was really an invaluable experience and I've taken a lot on board - straight back into the workshop in hopes to be better prepared for round 2.
I've got some pics I tried taking between patches of rain, should I post here or start a new thread for those just wanting a look? There's only about 25 or so...
Actually, now am unpacking and did anyone happen to pick up some yellow ear protection? Can't find the set I took out ... not a big deal have another set, just hoping...

Had a great weekend.
Round 2 was great - it was cold but everyone was smiling the whole day.
And on Saturday even the restaurant and hotel room were great ( I can recommend the deluxe room at Seymours on Lydiard , and Jasmine Thai on Sturt )
Thanks to all that came and supported the day. Those who didnt - do so next time. Thanks also to the AstinaGT members who came and supported me.
I think Adam would really really appreciate the family and friends making the trip and running with his awesome car. Its such a great car - the awards were well deserved !!
Someone stick up some photos - apparently I was grinning like crazy when I got my award

Hey guys,
Wow! That was one of the most enjoyable events yet. To look over and see all of Adam's family, so very proud, and socialising with the competitor base was remarkable. I've told you you're all most welcome at the events and I'm sure I speak on behalf of everyone that we'd love to see you guys and Adz' car at future events. Mary-Ellen, I of all people know how tough yesterday was for you as well, and Adam would be very proud of you. You're very strong and we'd love to see you at the events as well.
Michael from Rock Lock - you're a star mate! Thank you so much for your organising, and the sandwiches and cakes etc were awesome! We hope to see you at the Melbourne events and staying involved in CAASQ.
Egear / db JAY / Kirk / Brett - Thanks for organising the dB Test, you did a great job and added another aspect that's entertaining between SQ cars being judged. Jay - You are The Man!

But we'll see at Wagga

Vanessa (Ness) and Robyn - The Scoresheet Sisters

Oh and Coffee Runners

Thanks so much for your help, it makes our job so much easier. You girls rock!

SQ Judges inc. shiny, pulse_r and of course Blanketman and Hollywood (show judges always go unthanked!) thanks guys. Shiny and Simon thanks for volunteering to judge - it certainly meant yesterday didn't need to drag on any longer in the cold and wet. It was good to see that even with a shake up of judges yesterday, there were some consistent results. Maybe our CAASQ Judges aren't tone deaf after all??

It was nice for me to not have to judge and be able to socialise and enjoy the day. Thanks to all our judges for allowing me to be able to do this.
And finally, a HUGE thankyou to all the competitors who made the trek to Ballarat. It's nice to see more social groups forming and catch-ups happening away from the competition day. To me this is what makes CAASQ worthwhile - the opportunity to meet friends and get away.
Really looking forward to the Round 3!
Let's not forget our sponsors who make this possible each season:

big thanks to all involved in making this event happen, i think for a regional event with very little local 'advertising' there was a decent presence from the local boys who were pretty happy to get a run on the termlab and see what their stereo's could really do. not to mention brian, a new face for the sq scene who rocked up and had a go and seemed pretty keen to come to another event
thanks to mick for organising, and the sandwiches and slices!!!
the judges, especially the 'new recruits' richard and simon, you did a great job with the number of cars that were there and the weather which didnt quite manage to stay clear for the whole day (hey, its ballarat)...poor jason and lochie had to endure the rain everytime they decided to judge a show car
to jay for his constant enthusiasm on the mike, getting all involved in the fun 'decibel' day, your a champ....side comment, boston g5 subs go off!! (sq tuned and i got 134.3dB playing music)
finally to adam's family and friends - it was great to see you all there, talking to the mea community, we all feel for your loss and its great to see adz' car still competing and doing very very well....hopefully (i dont doubt it) we will see ADZ.1 at Nationals
See you all at the next event (provided its not in Echuca!!!, lol)

I speak for me, Jess and Andrea when I say we had a great time (Even if a certain Italian dish and it's exodus via her nose did make Andrea's Sunday a little hard........), and we are looking forward to more regional events!

Congrats to all the winners too!

wow.. what a day..
had my support crew (kyla & miniwalks) rock up at mine before 6:30 so we could cruise around to meet up with Adam's family for a memorial cruise to ballarat, with a few detours (and pick ups) thrown in..
get to ballarat to sun & blue skies.. that didnt hang around long tho.. but i managed to get a few pics of all the cars.. and people.. which i'l put up some time this week when im home..
ok.. onto event reflections..
thanks go out to adam's family and friends for trekking up to ballarat for the comp.. and ensuring that 'nemesis' lives on.. congrats on taking home 2nd (after countback) and judges choice.. was well deserved..
thanks to Mick (rock, lock & roll) for organising the event..
thanks also to the score counting ladies.. job well done..
thanks to the judges for battling the ballarat weather and judging well, show and sound..
thanks to jay for providing the entertainment on the mic.. your a crack-up mate.. love ya work..

also congrats to the winners of the classes..
i managed to take home 1st place in Amateur Show, as well as Most Improved.. sure brought the enthusiasm back to compete.. i'll be there next round.. wasnt able to do the full show like i hoped, but the hard work paid off..
only downside.. the damn wetness.. and freezin cold temps.. i couldnt feel my ears by the end of the day.. but was well worth it!

Yeah, the day was good although the weather could have been better!
Firstly I would like to that Adam's Family for attending this event, and bringing Adam's beast in for another succcessful round, I know this must have been an emotional time for all of you, I know I felt it a bit. I hope to see you again at future SQ events with the international, would love to have a demo.
Also to Mary-Ellen for being so strong & like Marc said: hope to see you at future events, by the way thats a nice BMW you have there!
Big thanks goes out to all the judges (thanks to Sam & Richard for the great feedback- on my part), "The scoresheet sisters" (as Marc put it), and to Rock Lock & Roll for hosting this event, also to all the competitors who entered and to all the winner's on the day especially Damo, (I know you'd eventully claim that 1st place title, you deserve it mate), also cant forget Marc for orginizing the event, thanks heaps!
