Hey Everyone,

I done quick search but nothing relevant.

Has anyone got any reviews on the Fusion Jonah Lomu 6.5" Speakers FJL-65C?

Thanks

Grant

couldnt find any reviews, but i did find them on the Fusion site (if you havent already seen this...)

double stacked magnets on mid-woofers = wank factor....makes them heavier, deeper and harder to install well
2ohm impedance means that with a suitable amp (nearly all multi-channel amps), you can get the maximum potential power - though be aware that if you buy a 4ch amp and bridge it, it may not like the 2ohm load these speaker will present

they're a little old (over 2yrs old now) and to be honest, i've not heard of anyone running them, nor heard any reviews on them.
this would usually indicate that they either are very hard to get, or there are simply better products out there for the money

why are u asking about these in particular, what info were u chasing?
if ur looking to buy new splits, whats ur budget so we can recommend a few different products to try and get a listen to

cheers Mate,

Yeah I was just wanting to see if anyone has heard them at all and how good they really are. I was thinking of getting either the fusions or type R splits. for my front stage.

Surprisingly enough from the picture they actually look like the could potentially be a not bad speaker.

Nice chunky magnet is comparable to that on my Rainbow Power's, the basket seems fairly solid, surround fairly chunky and even the tweeter's appearance seems to suggest quality.

That said, at the end of the day looks don't mean much, and so I can't say "go for it" based on that alone.

2ohm impedance is a little bit of a turn off, and also a litlte bit curious... why? A 2ohm load ill only increase pressure on your amp, increase heat, and increase the chances of clipping. You won't notice it so much on a sub so you can get away with it, but i'd question whether it's a good idea on speakers...

I guess the plus side is you could wire a pair of them on each side in series for a 4ohm load, but then why would you? You'd just spend double the money on a good set, rather then half the money on two cheaper sets.

Alpine Type R's in my opinion aren't anything special at all, and if it's Alpine you are looking at i'd take a good look at the Type X range instread if you can stretch the budget.

I'd like to say these ones are rubbish because they are Fusion but I can't.. until I've heard them I just can't make that assumption.

the canadians like them a lot smile.gif
i now have some for the spl vehicle, but when they were setup in a friends lancer, they were pretty good to be honest.

Mid is a bitch to install, x-over is also large as well. Tweeter is a neo soft dome and comes in a aluminium casing with a couple of diff mounting options. Set comes with 10ga cabling as well.

Sound wise: the set is made for loud. Overall tonality is reasonably clear (better than some alpine typeR, dls b6a, soundstream setups i've heard over the years) but the midbass is extended and the midrange loses it a bit due to the extended midbass.

Its not harsh, clinical, or overly precise in its reproduction, but it is a set that is non fatiguing and is easy to listen and does it without losing a lot of detail except at the top end (but that is representative of a wide range of component sets that get wooley at 17k and above..)

Overall, a nice set to have to get loud and clear and no inherant musical signatures cept for the extended midbass. Pretty neutral i felt.

Its easy to dismiss fusion, but to be honest, this is a signature/top of the line range. They are built to be loud but also clear with a solid build to take a lot of crap.
they aren't built for audiophiles.. they are built to get loud, sound good and provide enjoyment without being too overly anal about music.

they are in a simple sentence, fun and enjoyable to listen to.

as for impedence.. considering that impedence changes with frequency and that numerous amplifiers are 2 ohm stable, there are no problems with the lomu's being 2ohm.

My friend cranked his music hard using a caliber 475+ and the amp didn't overheat (didn't even get warm lol) so they are perfectly fine to run.

Infinity have released "2ohm " component set and there are no major issues..
