After a fantastic first three rounds, the forth event of the 2007 NSW CAASQ Sound Quality Competition season has been announced to coincide with the Doran sanctioned SPL event being held on 24/06/07. You still have a fair amount of time to get your cars all sorted, tuned and improved for this upcoming round. For those not in the know, we're spreading the competitions around to different points of the compass in order to spread the travel time between us all. This tends to make it better for all involved and that results in the event focusing on its roots; car audio enthusiasts getting together to chat, listen, compare and compete.



Registration for the competition starts at 08:00 and judging begins at 10:00 sharp. Entry fee is $35 for all classes. The planned order of events for the SQ side of the day are:

* Amateur Street Class
* Amateur Show Class
* Pro Street Class
* Pro Show Class
* Award presentations

As per usual, during the middle of the day there will be a BBQ with both food and drinks available. Tony and lads at Doran Pro Audio will be taking care of this as the event is held there.

The important details are:
When: Sunday 24th June, 2007
Where: Doran Pro Audio. Unit 6 / 42 Canterbury Road, Bankstown. The map below is marked with a small circle.
Time: We get there around 07:00 to get all setup. Anytime after that though is fine – finish is usually around 17:00-18:00. We do stay back to chat and mingle though.
Cost: Entry to the sound off is $35. We encourage people to take advantage of this by speaking with other people and bouncing ideas of each other. Don't just turn up, get your car judged then leave.
Security: Thieves and dishonest people are not welcome and for the ones amongst us thinking of coming down to steal something – we’ve been through it before and trust me; security is one aspect NOT overlooked (that is about all we ever say in writing).



Everyone is welcome! The thing to remember is the day is always a lot of fun so please come along, spend time with fellow audio enthusiasts and support our industry. It doesn't matter whether you have never attended, come along and meet everyone - most are quite friendly and don't bite. Judges are also more than happy to help you tune the car before the competition starts.

Last exam is on the 22nd and the car is booked to be taken into on the 23rd for the install work to start.. that means the chance of me having a car in my possession, and with gear in it and running is close to nothing.

Figured I'd have been able to make it, because i'd guessed it would have been last weekend of the month (i..e Sat 30th).

Can't blame anyone for that though, it's my own mistake for not checking on the date.

Not looking good for me - missing another round would bring me down in the rankings bad, to the point where I may not be able to come back.

Thats pretty impressive, but it did sit dormant for a while and lets be honest here, its not exactly working very hard now

The Car started life as a Dealer Loan Car,

Then it was purchased and used as a Weekend Car.
I am the third owner and Looks like the second person who cared for the car.

The Last Owner (only had it for a Year) painted the boot in House Enamel rather than spending $20 on a new seal

My first bit of good news... my car is running! Turns out my fuel pump was cactus, but she's purring like a kitty again now

Now all I need to do is see if I can rebook the install for a couple of days later.. maybe the day after the comp.

If I can do that, then I'll be there my furry friends

i hate city driving, the most lanes we have down here is like 2 and thats ont he highway

plus, i wont be getting there till around 8:00 or so cause im leaving from down here that mroning, so get up at about 4:00 lol

and 4 hours travelling time at least = 8:00 am

I've just rescheduled my install booking for the Monday after the competition, and so unless something insanely creepy and random happens - I'll be there!

The car has improved to some degree in every aspect since the last event, including imaging, staging, linearity and every frequency band.

I'm not going to say much more about it from here in, I'll wait till the day and let the stereo do the talking.

rick is a pretty good driver and isnt a city boy him self so you wont have any dramas following him up. its pretty straight fwd too. keeping to main roads. no crazy turnoffs

Still a ton of excellent competition, but it'll be sad to not have you there, mate.

On my own note, I've already confirmed the day off with the boss, and so It's looking good for me. Only potential thing to hold me back is that my rego is due this Thurday (21st) and I have final exams on Thursday and Friday...

That basically means I've got to pray I can get a pink slip without any work needing to be done, otherwise with the uni schedule I may not have the time to get all necessary work done and have the car registered for the weekend...

I will pray for my cars roadworthiness!
