in my efforts of searching the interweb and a bunch of stores...i'm yet to come accross some decent RCA cables that are 3.5mm headphone jack to rca (stereo).

currently using crappy normal ones but experiencing a bit of engine noise since my battery sits right next to the computer so just wanting something a bit better.

links to online places r even better tongue.gif

after short peices ..ie. 1m etc x 2. also some splitters will be nice..anything under $100 or so all up.

thanks for that mate.
i musta missed it when i was in all the jaycar stores...

anyone else? might have to just go for them then..
Got Rice?
My carPC has built in RCA outputs with my VoomPC case, plugs into the motherboard audio out and gives me RCA out, hence no need for the 3.5mm converter. From here i will be using either stinger Hyper series, or Stinger bullet series upto my headunit. smile.gif Hope that helps, i can provide photo's of the RCA adapter board if needed.

you are after an "Ipod to stereo/hifi" cable.

Thats what they are being called these days, cause most people have no idea what 'RCA to 3.5mm stereo mini jack' means sad.gif

I made mine myself. Took some stinger Hyper interconnects, chopped off one of the Y ends (the signal origin side - cause they are directional) and soldered on a 3.5mm minijack. It was quite easy to do, and then you just test it with a multimeter to ensure you've done it correctly. Certainly a lot easier than paying ~$80 for 'specialised' iPod cables (WANK!).

Cost:
3.5mm jack ~$2 for really good ones
Stinger Hyper RCA $5-$25 (depending on length and new/used)

Basically, you can get all your cables (I needed 3) for less than the price of a 'special' iPod version rolleyes.gif

hmm..i might actually give that a go..
where'd u get really good 3.5mm's from ?

and u just do one channel to the inside part of the 3.5mm and the other to the tab part and that becomes stereo ?
might give it a go on a cheapo set first.

yeh stupid 'ipod' merchandise....jacking up prices of everything these days tongue.gif

This year Stinger will be introducing two different levels of 3.5mm to RCA cables within the new RCA range, in both the PRO3 and HPM3 series. The PRO3 series is the third level up in the RCA range and will be similar to the exisiting Hyper series, whereas the HPM3 will be the new top of the range, with all the bells and whistles you'd expect from the best Stinger interconnects. The PRO range will be available here (in bulk) in a couple of months. The HPM range is not expected until later in the year. However, if you are interested in the PRO3 version, talk to your local Stinger dealer, and we could specially order them in for you, which would have them here in a few weeks. Check out the new range here; 2007 Stinger Website smile.gif

Just about any audio store can supply you good jacks.
I got mine from Audio Oz on Nepean Hwy, St Kilda. They arent really super flash, but they are nice quality, and not plasticy crap. They are durable, so will last a long time, and protect your soldering work. I guess Radio Parts/DSE will also have them. Just get a good quality jack that will provide a good (electrical & mechanical) connection and protect that connection once you have screwed it closed again.

The stereo minijack has a Tip, Ring and Sleeve (TRS), which are all insulated from eachother. This provides Left, Right and GND (respectively).

jaycar will prolly do the trick and u wont have to make them.... and for like 15bux its cheaper to drive there than spend time with a soldering iron.

there are 3 bands on a stereo plug. left +, right +, and a common ground the ground is the closest to the wire and furthest from the tip dont ask me which is L and R but u cna just swap the RCA from L to R if its wrong...

you could just use a Sound car with RCA Outs...
