It was a good day for all, if not a little cold and wet, but still plenty of action.

First off id like to thank Dorans for the hospitality and sausage sizzle, id like to thank Marty and the rest of the Fully Hectic Ricer Xtreme team for running the SQ side of things, and DD Phil, in association with boat shoes inc. for the afternoon entertainment.

Congrats to mad89 for 1st place in Am St, Antony on his 2nd, and mazda626 on 3rd, in his very first comp, equal with muzzy Well done guys good.gif
MRVJ
^^ what he said...

It was good to be back and see everyone again after being locked up in the middle of the desert for so long. Great day for rick, his first placing this year and its first. very nice. Very happy with my second and good to still see a big turnout on such a crap day.
Cant wait for next round.

Definately! A big shout out and thank you to the Doran boys for hosting the event in conjunction with SPL and also to Fhrx for the SQ side of the things.

The weather was a bit stupid in the morning, but the sun was kind to us in the arvo, so it sort of worked out OK in the end.

Congrats to mad89 for 1st place in Am St, Antony on his 2nd, and mazda626 on 3rd, in his very first comp. Well done guys good.gif

Thanks Matt! good.gif

It was close between me and Antony, as i thought it would be when we listened to his car. The other cars were impressive as usual aswell, so all in all it was a great day!

Miko's car was sounding pretty good with the limited tunability, and im definately a fan of those DLS splits. I imagine the higher end models would be awesome, ill have to listen to some one day. Congratulations Miko, you should be proud of the equal third place on debut, with the solid effort you have put into the install.

Also an honourable mention to Pete (muzzy66), who still competed and came equal third, even though his sub amp went AWOL, and his car was judged with no sub. The car was great when I heard it, shame about the sub amp.

Thanks again to all involved! good.gif

See you at Round 5.

Yep, another good turn out despite the freezing (ok, not quite but close) weather. 10 points separating 1st to 8th place in am street, so the competition is definitely close and healthy. Once again I came away learning more about car audio and the current short comings of my current system.

My only drama now is to find the 11 points I need to win an event!
Fhrx
Some of the photos are now up guys. Thanks to Surefire for taking them. Click here for the photos page.

Trism; change that name to Marty.

Results for the leaderboard have been sent to Marc.

Another great competition day. Another huge thanks to the aforementioned bloke for all of the effort and time put into making it happen. Great job of the judges as well getting everything done so quickly - given the late start I expected a late one, but it was all rounded up around 3pm.

Congrats on Rick for the #1, as well as Antony for taking the second position - both very well deserved no doubt.

I think this is the first time there were two Rainbow cars in the top four - nice to see smile.gif

Spewing that the sub amp carked it though, as an extra 4 points for sub-bass would have given me a 110 and put me equal second, with the potential for an extra point in linearity as well sad.gif

Biggest weakness is still staging, and I don't think that will improve while I have this car - assuming I decide to go through with the next event.

Planning on sending the ARC 1500 back to ARC Audio soon - no else has been able to fix it, so even they said it's not guaranteed but worth a try.... will give me 500w into 8ohm so it should get that little Vanadium moving like an animal smile.gif

Grats to all the winners/placers!

cool, i wanna see what was wrong with my mid and sub bass sad.gif
mad89
Yeah. Just give them some time, and they might come in and post some feedback for us. If anything, you should have asked more questions on the day tongue.gif

Last round, Peter (one of the previous judges) came in and posted a lengthy feedback for a couple of the cars. Paul may come in and do the same.

Patience boy! laugh.gif

Definately the right state of mind.

Never upgrade your components until you have perfected your installation and tuning to the point where you squeezed every ounce of potential from your current components.

Problem is many people go and upgrade components when their car doesn't sound perfect, and often it's the installation / tuning rather then the components that is the problem.

Result is that the new components still have the same tuning and installation, and so they still sound comparatively like ass.

Optimise installation as much as possible, when that's done if you still arent happy then upgrade components.

Hell look at me - I've been using that crappy jaycar amp to run my sub for eyons now and it was sounding pretty good until the amp decided to shat itself.
Deftone2k
Ive said it all along, with Muzzy on this one.

Why change components because you cant tune it right? Hit the limits of your gear, then change.

Dont change expecting for it to fix the bit you were lacking. Its a lot of wasted time and effort (let alone money) but hey im all for those people as long as they are supporting the local retailers biggrin.gif
mad89
HAHA... You put it perfectly Defty! good.gif

tongue.gif biggrin.gif
Riley.
yeah thats why i upgraded cos i was told that i couldnt get any more out of the gear that i had.....so i changed head unit, amp and sub....and got a dedicated amp for my sub

but ill let my CAASQ results speak for themselves in regards as to wether the changes were worth it

have we got a list of results up yet guys?
philz
LOL Ive been changing my whole systems part alot these past few months, but i think i should calm down a bit and fix up my system, start tuning it perfectly, wasted alot of money changing around different combo, amps, subs, splits, but it was sure worth while trying out products, and experimenting with them in my own car rather than demo board, or other people's car.

I shall be ready.. in the next 5 years! until i deaden my doors, fix up my door pods, amp wiring, processor wiring.. lol tonnes of stuff, but i shall be there.. one day hahah.

Been MIA for the last few days, hand giving me some drama, so now I thought it was about time I posted up my reflections!

Fantastic Day! even with the crape weather and so on, was still a great event.
Was kinda fun watching the SPL boys do their thing, entertaining even.

Congrats to Rick, Ant and Miko for the placings, all well deserved, Ricks car sounded sublime, very linear and nicely balanced, Ants car is soooo smooth down low, those rainbows are awesome speakers, a bit more stage hieght and he is going to be very hard to beat.
Didnt get to hear Miko's, will definately have a listen at R5!! but a fantastic placing for a first outing.
Was a bit dissappointed with my own result, but I made a few negative changes and my place reflected that, (6th) will definately have those changes fixed for R5 tho!!

Thanks to Hakki for spending a bit of time with me in my car, it was much appreciated, and he has passed on a little of his immense experience and wisdom to me in the process, and pointed out a few area's were I was lacking, thanks mate, advice like yours is always very welcome smile.gif

All in all had a great day, a few laughs with the boys and was worth the cold wet weather.
