A small quantity of the long awaited HP1kD Digital Hertz amps has today arrived, a quick inspection of the box shows that everything down to in-line Connection-Audison fuses has been supplied with these amps.

These are certainly one of the heaviest and largest amps I've seen for a while and a quick look in side shows a very impressive design.

The price has now been confirmed at $2,589 RRP - for a 3000 W/RMS amp we feel this is exceptional value, of course if you strap two of these together you will achieve power ratings in excess of 6000 W/RMS at 2 ohms.

So if your serious about SPL get a new Hertz HP1kD they will deliver the power you need.

Specs?

Dual 0gauge inputs by the looks of things?

Looks quiet nice, I am guessing it will be similar quality to Audison?

That's a mighty fine looking amp there...

A quick phone call to Italy and the answer is..........

The end September is the most likely date we will see the rest of the HP line and the SPL MONSTERS according to Italy, August is a wipe off due to the whole country shutting down for three weeks of summer holidays so in saying September its approx 8 (working) weeks away.

I stress this is an E T A only.
ReMiX
Will they load to .5 or .25 ?
RMA
The manual says 1 ohm stable and 2 ohm stable when strapped - it does not say .5 or .25 ohm stable.
I would assume that a half ohm burp or quarter ohm burp would be possible but I am not saying they will do it.
RMA
A HP1KD will be available for viewing at FHRX for around a week from the 19th of July.
Fhrx
Yeah she is here on display. It will also be attending the next round of the NSW competitions (round 5). For details see the NSW section. biggrin.gif

Has anyone in Australia played with one of these yet?

And by played I mean PLAYED with it in a car preferably a SPL car with low impedances and voltage? smile.gif
RMA
Nope, poney up the cash and you can be the first.

why would any of us put up the cash to do your testing.

as a distributor, shouldnt you be proving to us consumers that your products have what it takes.
Fhrx
We've had it running with a 4 ohm load for ages now. I just swapped the subs around to give it a 1 ohm load. I'll let you know in a few hours how she goes regarding power and heat. The current draw is around the thirty ampere mark according to our power supply here. In other words it's not overly loud but thirty amps (average) is enough to give a intial indication of how it performs over an extended period with a realistic load. biggrin.gif

hottest amp ive ever seen, yeah baby!

Yeah have to give big props to DD Phil and alike that put in the time and effort for these kinds of things smile.gif

Marty, eagerly awaiting your review on the amp at 1ohm wink.gif

my thoughts exactly....
RMA
Marty has been testing a HP1KD for the last day or two and tells me it has heaps of power and stunning control, in short he is very impressed.

A couple of people that have asked what it will do at 1/2 or 1/4 ohm loads, the amp is rated for a lowest impedance level of 1 ohm therefore we do not have these figures.

If these people seriously want to know what the amp does at these super low impedances my advice remains pony up the cash buy one and try it. It's not realistic to ask a supplier to run an amp at impedance levels below what its is designed to do, after all I am sure Ford or Holden would not give you an acceleration time of 0 to 100 on hi octain racing fuel.
Michae1
Do you know of anyone overseas that has used these amps in a SPL application?
RMA
These amps were only released a month or so ago, they are an amp designed for SPL first and foremost.

I know they have had test units running around for some time but I am not privy to their results.
Wisdom
a very attractive amp both internally and externally!
Michae1
Ok, so it's an amp designed for SPL first and foremost.? (your words not mine)

But they don't give you the information that SPL competitors will ask for when looking into amps?

The person that would look at buying a SPL amp isn't going to be too fussed about the look of the amp or what it will do at 4 ohms on 14.4v or whether it comes with a fuse.

If it has been designed for SPL, then I would expect you as the distributor to know what it is capable of in an actual SPL set up.

Its an SPL amp, it should have been designed to handle low impedances, low voltage and also higher voltages in SPL set ups (burps only of course)

I'm not saying tell us what power it will do at .25 ohm seeing 10.9v, but you should know if it is strong enough to handle it.

edit: fixed spacing

t;line-height:100%">Michae1 expect all you like.
Whilst RMA may test the amps in manor you suggest we will NOT be publishing the results, PERIOD !
It is irresponsible to go around quoting figures outside the factory parameters as people then believe that it is ok to run things at these levels, contra to what people like DDPhil do or what you may think I am not in the business of pushing products way past the manufacturers specs to see how far they will go and if they will continue to function when abused in such a way and if I do so choose to do such tests as I said I will NOT be publishing the results.

If you want to see what the limit is go buy one and do it, but do not expect warranty if you damage it.

We are offering an amp that produces XYZ power at ABC impedance, we will test the unit to ensure it does these power ratings and that is where it ends.

If you thing a product must do half or quarter ohm impedance levels to qualify as an SPL amp then that's is simply your opinion and that is fine with me..
