need help from Eclipse 7100 users

did an audit on the unit, was very impressed by the sound and tuning capabilities, ready to commit
it came with the USB connector, stuck my ipod and flash drive in to test, both had the same problem, the song/artist text display are unreadable, i tried the same method on my Pioneer 7950, everything was fine(only that u can't continue a new search from the current track, have to search from beginning!)

from the 7100 manual, hold the "SCREEN" button a few secs and it solved the display problem, to search for tracks using "MODE" the same issue occur.

am i missing something??? or do i have to get the ipod cable to solve the problem?
will get the Alpine 9887 instead if this is not solved

Yep. You posted in the SQ forum instead of the general car audio forum, but you are forgiven.

Sound Quality Discussion
Sound quality and technical matters.

I bought myself a 7100 on wednesday I hope this isnt a problem on all of them. Have you figured it out yet or gone for the alpine?

emailed Eclipse got this reply,

Thanks for contacting Eclipse. Anyway, the CD7100 for iPod is speced to work through the adaptor, iPC-106. As far as USB please make sure that the music is in MP3 format not WMA. i do not think what i'm facing is a technical problem, rather something i am missing on the settings, btw i tried using MP3 for the USB not WMA.

no chance to audit again, care to share yours

ok im pretty angry now. i thought i would try to add display data i had some normal photos on the usb which i didnt know where not compatible. So i stuffed up something and even when the usb isnt plugged in the unit still thinks it is but wont play anything. i even formated the usb and it didnt fix the problem. then to make matters worse i lost the thing. so not happy right now. does anyone know if i can reset the unit or something and it will go back to original settings and then be back to how it was before i tried to load photos or would this be a warranty problem or something. i cant see how pressing a wrong button should stuff the whole unit up.

so right now i have a head unit that doesnt really work properly and a usb that is lost and ive only had it for under a week.

If you unplug it from all power sources, it should reset. Otherwise see if there is a smallish button on the front or back to reset the unit. Do any of the buttons etc work?

I'd suggest taking it down to a pro store that deal with Eclipse, and getting them to help you work it out
samhouston
yeah everything still works as normal apart from the usb
samhouston
reset the unit put a new usb in and its all sweet.
